The Washington news circuit is abuzz with the Ronald Reagan Foundation’s recent request that Donald Trump and RNC stop using Reagan’s name in various fundraising letters.
Less reported is the leadership of this suspect group, which consists of Swampy lobbyists, Discarded Never Trumpers, and is Presided over by Jeff Bezos’ man at the Washington Post.
Other key figures on the board of Trustees include discarded Never Trumper Paul Ryan.

Given the people involved, it is wonder the website prominently features such anachronistic and discredited figures as Bush apparatchick Karl Rove, and Never Trump Governor Larry Hogan.
Revolver.news Conclusion
The question of whether Trump should use Reagan’s name in fundraising itself is not terribly relevant, and it is even questionable whether Trump would want to use Reagan’s name. Reagan may have been the right President for his time—but the times have changed, and much of Trump’s appeal in 2016 was in providing an updated vision on immigration, trade, and foreign policy that addresses the concerns of 21st Century America, and not the Cold-War embroiled America that Reagan presided over nearly half-century ago.
Whatever one thinks of Reagan as a President, it is clear that appeals to “Reaganism” is misplaced nostalgia at best, and, at worst, a way for the SWAMP to avoid the difficult questions about immigration trade and foreign policy that Trump heroically forced into the conversation in 2016. This is why SWAMP figures such as Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, and the discredited National Review crowd cling to the Reagan name so desperately.
