Sometimes the most disturbing stories are about a lot more than the violent moment. They’re also about the long trail of red flags and warnings that came before it and the number of chances the system had to act but did nothing, because they didn’t want to look “racist.” And because of that, real people died.

The Nottingham killings are part of that disturbing category.

Valdo Calocane didn’t just drop out of the sky one day and become a horrific murderer. He had years of documented mental health crises, police contact, and a slew of escalating red flags. Yet, thanks to woke officials, this monster remained in the community until three innocent people were dead and others were seriously injured.

Buried inside the official record is a detail that raises some really deeply serious questions about how public safety took a backseat to progressive PC culture.

To understand the scale of this failure, you have to start with what actually happened in June 2023 and the history that came before it.

Daily Mail:

Schizophrenic Valdo Calocane slaughtered fellow university students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and 65-year-old Ian Coates in a random stabbing spree in Nottingham in June 2023.

Three pedestrians were also seriously hurt when Calocane stole Mr Coates’s van and drove it at members of the public before he was stopped by police.

He had a long history of contact with NHS mental health services and is serving an indefinite hospital order after admitting manslaughter with diminished responsibility.”

This monster had a well-documented history and repeated contact with authorities long before the killings ever happened. But nobody wanted to appear “racist,” so this madman was allowed to roam free.

And that’s what makes the part so sickening. Because buried in the timeline is a massive warning that now reads like a flashing red alarm that people knew about but decided not to act on.

The Daily Mail piece continues:

His behaviour was so troubling that a doctor warned in July 2020 that Calocane ‘will end up killing someone’, yet he was discharged two weeks later.

There’s no way to overstate how damaging and disgusting it is that a professional warning that explicit was followed by some shoulder shrugs and a release two weeks later. Can you blame people for not trusting any government system these days?

And the warning signs did not stop there. The investigation has already identified multiple violent incidents involving Calocane, yet no action was taken to address this growing and disturbing risk.

The Daily Mail piece continues:

The inquiry heard on one occasion a team of medical professionals ‘considered the research evidence that shows over-representation of young black males in detention’ and decided to release him back into the community.

When a dangerous madman is being evaluated, the public would expect that the decision is made on risk, history, and his behavior. Not worrying about his skin color. Yet, even so, we’re expected to believe that “race” didn’t play a factor in this debacle.

The Daily Mail piece keeps going:

As to whether specifically in (Calocane’s) case there is any evidence that restrictive practices were not used because he was black, this question has, in accordance with the published questions, been put to a significant number of the professionals who were dealing with him.

The evidence thus far received by the Inquiry does not suggest it was.

Nobody with half a brain believes that hooey.

The investigation is now desperate to focus on other breakdowns. Daily Mail continues:

Ms Langdale suggested there was an ‘astonishing failure of information sharing’ where the University of Nottingham were unaware the medical reason Masters student Calocane had been absent for months.

[…]

We want it to expose systemic neglect with a thorough examination of the missed opportunities by mental health services, law enforcement, and judicial bodies.

Any report that comes out won’t be worth the paper it’s printed on. Nobody trusts these systems anymore, and for good reason.

Sadly, what happened in Nottingham can’t be undone. Three families are living with that horror every single day.

But the bigger question now is whether Western institutions are still capable of acting decisively when the warning signs are this clear and the subject is a minority and/or a migrant.
