So where are all the climate warriors?

Seriously, where’s Greta Thunberg?

Where are the activists who block highways and glue themselves to museum floors? Where are the politicians who shame everyday Americans for driving SUVs or forgetting their reusable grocery bags?

Because right now, nearly a billion gallons of raw sewage – literal poop water – has poured into the Potomac River just inside the Beltway, in Maryland and Virginia, both run by Democrats, and the silence from the left-wing climate army is stunning.

NOVA Campaigns:

VA Dem Senator @MarkWarner lives downstream from the 500 million gallons of raw sewage… but hasn’t been bothered to inquire about it.

Potomac is now frozen over & not all of the spill is contained. Feces has drained into the Potomac for over a week. E. coli is off the charts.

But boy, when environmental damage can be blamed on a red state governor, the outrage machine spins at warp speed. But when it happens under deep-blue leadership, suddenly all that urgency disappears.

The largest wastewater spill in American history happened in a region dominated by Dem leadership. And yet the same lawmakers who always frame climate change as this existential emergency have barely whispered concern.

How can you take these climate clowns seriously?

While activists obsess over barbecues, this is the climate disaster that’s actually happening inside the Beltway.

The failure in a section of a 72-inch sewer pipe in MD, has release of close to a billion gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac river just inside the Beltway

It’s now considered the LARGEST spill of wastewater in U.S. history

MD & VA Dems haven’t said a word.

This is the largest wastewater spill in American history, and it happened in a region governed entirely by left-wing “tree huggers. ” Yet, nobody cares.

Weird, right?

We all know if this environmental nightmare had unfolded in Texas or Florida, the press conferences would already be booked and the CNN and MSNBC panels fully stacked, ready to roll. Instead, it’s quiet. You can hear the crickets chirping. And that’s what everyone notices.

And the details about what actually went down make it even worse. This wasn’t some small infrastructure whoopsie that was quickly contained. It was a catastrophic pipe failure that dumped raw sewage into one of the country’s most important rivers.

WTOP:

The failure in a section of a 72-inch sewer pipe, known as the Potomac Interceptor, resulted in the release of hundreds of millions of gallons of raw sewage into the river just inside the Beltway along the C&O Canal in Montgomery County, Maryland. It’s considered the largest spill of wastewater in U.S. history.

“The Potomac River is a shared natural treasure, and any event that threatens its health understandably causes concern, frustration, and a sense of loss. Those feelings are not only valid — but they are also shared by all of us at DC Water,” Gaddis said in the letter.

The letter went onto explain that on Jan. 19, crews noticed unusual activity in security cameras monitoring an odor control facility along the C&O Canal. Upon inspection, crews discovered the break.

In the days since the discovery, D.C. Water personnel and contractors worked to “contain the overflow, protect public safety, and begin repairs.”

A bypass system was constructed to pump waste around the damaged area of the pipe and reinsert it into a section of the structure downstream.

Complicating the repairs was the discovery last week of a large rock dam blocking a significant section of the pipe about 30 feet south of the break. D.C. Water is waiting for five large capacity pumps to arrive from Texas and Florida to increase pumping capacity. They then plan to build a bulkhead near the break to divert more water so workers can safely remove the boulders.

D.C. Water expects this to take up to an extra six weeks to accomplish.

Possibly close to a billion gallons of raw sewage flowing and six more weeks of repairs. And this is all unfolding in a river that Dems love to call our “shared natural treasure.” Yet, there’s zero outrage.

Frankie Stockes:

The Potomac River is full of FECAL BACTERIA and you can SMELL IT before you even see the river. A BILLION GALLONS of raw sewage have poured into the river since last month and officials say it’ll take at least 6 more weeks to fix. This is the biggest wastewater spill in US history and the environmental impact is and will continue to be massive, yet politicians in and around DC have remained quiet. At this point, the Potomac River is almost as filthy and disgusting as Capitol Hill!

There are real questions surrounding how these tunnels were built. After watching so many projects fall apart under politically driven DEI and contracting schemes, it’s not unreasonable to ask who received these contracts and on what basis. Taxpayers deserve to know exactly how and why those decisions were made.

The WTOP piece concludes:

Gaddis pointed out that several tunnels they’ve built along the Northeast Boundary, and are currently building along the Potomac, have resulted in billions of gallons of combined sewage being prevented from entering the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers through the utility’s Clean Rivers Project.

Infrastructure improvements are good. They matter. But you don’t get to pat yourself on the back for past prevention while nearly a billion gallons of poop water are in the river right now.

This is why people are fed up with the climate nonsense. The average American cares about clean water. They don’t want rivers polluted. They don’t want environmental disasters. And they really don’t want selective outrage based on politics.

When everyday citizens are bullied over plastic straws and grocery bags, but a historic sewage spill under Democrat leadership barely registers on the activist radar, it looks exactly like political theater.

If this movement were truly about protecting the planet, its loudest voices would be camped out along the Potomac demanding answers from their own side as we speak.

Instead, we get silence.

And that silence says a helluva lot more than all the crying over plastic straws and cheeseburgers.
