Five years after federal agents banged on his door in the early morning hours and dragged him into one of the most disturbing political prosecutions of the Biden era, Douglass Mackey is no longer just a defendant whose name was fully cleared on appeal.

Ed Martin and Mike Benz were among the first to congratulate Mackey on his victory, which was also a victory for the American people:

He’s now a firsthand witness and survivor to how America’s injustice system was bent, weaponized, and aimed directly at Trump supporters as a test run for something much bigger.

On the five-year anniversary of his arrest, Mackey spoke exclusively to Revolver about that day, the system that targeted him, and what he believes still needs work, if the damage done under Biden’s DOJ and FBI is ever going to be reversed.

“Five years ago, federal judges greased the skids for the political persecution of myself, President Trump, and countless other Trump supporters and backers,” Mackey explained.

Who could forget the dark day the jury returned a guilty verdict?

Doug says his case was never about justice or protecting elections. It was about seeing how far the government could stretch the law and who it could crush in the process.

“They came after President Trump and I with the Klan Act — the same Klan Act charge that a judge refuses to sign in the case of Don Lemon,” Mackey continued.

He says the contrast couldn’t be more revealing.

“Unlike Don Lemon, I didn’t invade a church or terrorize anyone, and an appellate court threw out my conviction, citing lack of evidence.”

But none of that mattered. The lawfare machine was already in motion.

“That lack of evidence didn’t stop a federal judge from signing an arrest warrant or an urban liberal jury from convicting me,” he explained.

What troubles Mackey most is what followed, and what continues to this day:

“Now, those same federal judges and liberal urban juries are refusing to return indictments and convictions of domestic terrorists and violent criminal illegal aliens.”

He says this isn’t a coincidence:

“The weaponization of justice is systemic, and it only goes one direction. We’ve got our work cut out for us to make the justice system great again.”

Those words carry weight because Mackey lived through the Deep State’s weaponization, as he explained on a War Room segment with Steve Bannon that aired this morning.

While prosecutors pushed forward, he was fighting for his freedom in a New York courtroom as his wife was giving birth to their special needs son, Roy. In the years that followed, Roy’s serious medical challenges brought hospital stays, surgeries, and crushing medical bills, all while Mackey continued to shoulder the financial and emotional cost of a case that should never have existed in the first place.

Today, Mackey’s first priority is still his family. Supporting his wife and caring for Roy is the center of his life. Roy’s strength and resilience have touched countless people who’ve followed the family’s story, and for readers who have asked how they can help, we will include a link to Roy’s donation page here for those who feel moved to support the Mackey family directly.

But Mackey has not stepped away from the bigger fight. Instead, he has turned his experience into a plan.

He’s spent a lot of time in Washington, meeting with lawmakers, including Senator Eric Schmitt, to bring attention to the political weaponization of our justice system.

Mackey is also working with Weaponization Watch, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing the stories of innocent Americans out of the shadows and into the light and fight. The mission aligns with what Mackey knows best: advocating for victims of government abuse, amplifying cases that are buried by the media, and exposing how power is manipulated for political reasons.

Weaponization Watch exists because free speech, due process, and equal justice are no longer guaranteed. Political targeting has become disturbingly normalized in the United States.  Mackey’s case is a blueprint for understanding how lawfare works and why it must be fought head-on every step of the way.

Five years ago, Doug Mackey could have taken a plea deal. He could have ended his suffering right away by admitting guilt for something he never did, and that never harmed a single American. That was the pressure Biden’s DOJ applied, and it’s the same pressure countless others face when the system decides they are expendable.

But Doug wouldn’t take the easy way out. He fought hard and made a lot of personal and professional sacrifices along the way. And now, five years later, he’s still here, standing up for free speech and justice, and refusing to back down.
