Dems love to scream about their precious democracy being under attack, but the truth is, nobody has weaponized the system like they have. For years, they’ve mastered the dark art of gerrymandering. What exactly is gerrymandering? In short, it’s slicing and dicing districts in order to guarantee a vice grip on power. Dems have been doing this for eons, all while pretending to be the party of fairness and equal representation. But, politically speaking, it’s been a smart move. The results speak for themselves… blue strongholds like Maryland, Illinois, and California are political fortresses, not because voters demanded it, but because Dems rigged the maps to make sure they could never lose.

But there’s a plot twist in this story: the tables have finally turned. Republicans now control the map-making process in more than 15 states, and that’s compared to just four for Dems.
Republicans have 15+ states they can redraw. Democrats have 4.

Finally, we have a chance to stop playing defense, go on offense, and level a playing field Dems have owned for decades. But this is the ol’ spineless GOP we’re talking about. The “loyal opposition” party is perfectly content to rage-post online and deliver fiery sound bites on Fox News, but when it comes to action, they’re known for doing next to nothing. It looks as if they prefer letting Dems call the real shots.
Back in 2010, Republicans absolutely slaughtered Dems, thanks to Obama’s radical and unpopular agenda. That was the big midterm “Tea Party wave” that flipped more than 700 state legislative seats and handed the GOP the keys to statehouses all over the country.

Keep in mind that state legislatures control redistricting, so for the first time in decades, Republicans had the power to redraw the political map.

But here’s where things get sticky: big redistricting changes happen once every ten years, after the Census.
Back in the Obama bloodbath days, that meant the next redraw wasn’t until after the 2020 Census, and by then, the landscape had changed yet again. Dems regrouped and chipped away at some of those 2010 gains. And then there was Biden’s sketchy 2020 election “victory,” which put them back in the driver’s seat. That meant Dems held onto their gerrymandered advantages, thanks to an election anyone with a brain knows was rigged. The most frustrating part was that Republicans refused to use the “map power” they still had in a dozen or more states.
Why didn’t the GOP jump at the chance to take power? There are many reasons, but the main one is that Republicans are afraid of being called “anti-democracy” by the media. Meanwhile, Dems have zero shame about carving out maps that guarantee them wins for a decade and beyond, mainly because the media doesn’t call them out on it. It’s a big game, and Republicans don’t know how to play it.
Also, the uniparty is real.

As we mentioned earlier, redistricting happens every ten years after the Census. That’s the “big reset” everyone expects, and why Trump is so anxious to roll out the new census and make sure that no illegals are included. But here’s what most people don’t realize… there are legal and political circumstances that let states redraw maps in the middle of the cycle.
Courts can step in and order new maps if the current ones are ruled unconstitutional, violate the Voting Rights Act, or aren’t representing the current population. Example: things like a big burst of population growth can trigger legal challenges and a redrawn map. And then there’s the political game… when one party controls both the legislature and the governor’s office, they can push through a redraw mid-decade, as long as they’re willing and able to defend it in court. That’s exactly what Texas did in 2003, and what they did again in 2025.

So, now it seems like some Republicans are stepping up to fight, but with these 15 states that are ripe for the taking, we need to push the party to redraw their maps.
These states don’t need to wait for the Census “redo.” Courts, population growth, and pure political will all open the door to redraw maps mid-cycle, just like how Texas did. The only thing stopping Republicans from locking in those wins right now isn’t the law. It’s them. They’re the only reason this won’t happen.
More red states are stepping up and showing how it’s done. Missouri is moving to redraw its congressional map, and the proposal on the table could add another Republican seat.
BREAKING: The Governor of Missouri is going to call a special session of the legislature to redraw the state’s US House map and one proposed map VERY easily draws out a brand new +1 Republican district.
Missouri needs to do it. Then, EVERY red state who can must follow suit. We must cancel out Gavin.

Republicans need to stop fearing Dems and their propaganda media. After all, if Dems want to lecture anyone about “fair maps,” they should look in the mirror first. For decades, they’ve treated redistricting like a weapon, carving up districts to lock in power while pretending to be champions of democracy.
Maryland is one of the most blatant examples of how Democrats weaponized redistricting to build a one-party stronghold while pretending to champion “fair maps.”
Maryland has traditionally been a Democratic-heavy state, and according to FiveThirtyEight, non-gerrymandered or proportionally partisan districts in Maryland could range from four to six likely Democrat seats, suggesting that a proper redistricting of the state’s eight districts would result in four to six districts favoring Democrats, and two to four either favoring Republicans or remaining competitive. Democratic analysts envisioned the possibility of an “8–0 map” which aspired to shut Republicans out of elections altogether; however, this may have endangered some incumbents, who rejected the proposal because they wanted to stay in office more easily. However, Democratic leaders saw the potential to create a district map that would give Democrats seven districts to the Republicans’ one, or the “7–1 map”. The state Democrats drew on services from the National Committee for an Effective Congress (NCEC) to determine how to create this “7–1 map”. The issue was how to remap the two Republican-leaning districts, the 1st and the 6th. After reviewing options, advisers and mapmakers settled on remapping only the 6th district, because redrawing the 1st district to achieve their goal would have split the district across the Chesapeake Bay, an undesirable outcome. Ultimately, a 7–1 map favoring Democrats was implemented.
As you can clearly see, that map wasn’t about representation or fairness. It was about raw political power. Dems carved up Maryland with, like, skilled surgeons to guarantee themselves a permanent grip on seven of the state’s eight congressional seats. They didn’t just play the game; they rewrote the rules and managed to turn a once-purple-leaning map into a solid blue fortress. And for a decade, it worked exactly as planned. Republicans were locked out, voters were silenced, and Dems sat back and called it “democracy.”

Now, Maryland is one of the bluest states in the country, and the Dems’ 7–1 map has locked the GOP out of any real chance to compete. And as it stands now, population trends aren’t creating any new districts. So, it would take a massive court intervention or some big political earthquake to shake things up in Maryland.
So, keeping all that in mind, our path forward is clear. Republicans hold the pen in more than 15 states, and there is zero reason to sit around with their thumbs up their rear ends while Dems keep playing for keeps.
Missouri and Texas are showing what it looks like to fight. That’s great. But now every red state needs to follow suit. Call your legislators, light up their phones, and make it clear that the map redraws need to start now.
