For eons now, illegals, foreign workers, and many so-called newcomers haven’t been coming to America to build a life. They came to cash in. They took full advantage of our jobs, our benefits, and our taxpayer-funded freebies. But here’s the kicker… they didn’t even keep that money in our economy. They funneled it back home through companies like Western Union, using America as their personal ATM while investing in a life somewhere else.

It was never about integrating into our society. It was about milking us for everything we’re worth, then parking the cash safely outside US borders. And Western Union has been an all-too willing partner in the scam, making a fortune off every transfer, no questions asked.

Now, as the tsunami of illegal and foreign labor slows and many immigrants drop out of the US workforce, one of the hardest-hit companies is none other than Western Union. The money pipeline is drying up—fast.

Typically an immigrant worker sends money home 1x per month, so this roughly equates to ~2 million fewer workers sending money home in June from a year ago.

And here’s the real insult: every dollar shipped out of the US in remittances is a dollar that’s not spent here, on our businesses, in our communities, or for our families. It’s a silent wealth transfer from hardworking Americans to foreign economies, and companies like Western Union have been cashing in for decades.

Illegals are big business for politicians and corporations. The only real losers are the American taxpayers.

But if you want to understand just how deep this scam runs, look at the remittance numbers from last year.

In 2024, illegal immigrants sent a mind-boggling $56 billion out of America and into their home countries. That’s $56 billion siphoned from our economy while many enjoyed free housing, taxpayer-funded healthcare, food assistance, and every other benefit our broken system hands out like Halloween candy.

For decades, this has been the standard playbook: drain our resources, cash the benefits, then ship the earnings home to build a better life in Mexico, or wherever—anywhere but here, it seems to be the point.

President Trump knows exactly how dangerous and destructive this remittance racket is, which is why he made it a key target in his Big Beautiful Bill. The “remittance scandal” has been bleeding our economy for decades, and Trump’s plan finally puts a price tag on it.

Last week, the House Republicans’ ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ narrowly passed through the US House of Representatives with a 215-214 vote. The bill sets out US President Donald Trump’s tax agenda for the next few years, with sweeping cuts across various aspects of American society. However, for money transfer providers, the focus has largely been on a new 3.5% tax on remittances for non-US citizens.

Starting in 2026, the tax would amount to 3.5% of the send amount for transfers. It would be collected by remittance service providers, banks and money transfer apps and paid every quarter to the US treasury. With no minimum transaction limit, even smaller transfers will be taxed, meaning that this could pose a significant hike for non-citizens living in the US and potentially shift consumer behaviour in an unprecedented way.

The remittance racket is such big business for foreign nations that their governments are now scrambling to help their citizens dodge Trump’s new tax. And as Senator Schmitt points out, how is this not a massive scandal?

When you step back and look at the big picture, it’s not just Western Union raking in billions off the backs of illegal immigrants and US taxpayers—it’s banks, remittance apps, corporations, and even foreign governments. They’ve all been cashing in while the American taxpayer gets hosed.

This type of corporate greed and political corruption is hollowing out our country from the inside. The remittance scam is just one small, albeit significant, piece of the puzzle, but it’s a perfect example of how our economy has been rigged to serve everyone but the American people.

Now, as President Trump fights to course-correct this mess, we’re seeing in full 4D just how dangerous these scandals truly are. They’re not just about money; they’re about sovereignty, security, and the survival of our way of life.
