It seems the government elites are on the hunt for new hobbies, and what’s better than finding fresh ways to tighten the reins on our lives, both now and in the future? Enter the “TikTok” bill, the perfect tool to kickstart their control over social media. Remember COVID? That was a perfect “tool” too. Now, whenever Democrats feel the urge to clamp down on the peasants, they’ll just whip out this convenient bill, draped in the guise of “protecting American democracy”—a laughable notion when they can’t even secure our borders. Watch as they pick apart a sentence or two, twisting it into a pretzel to enforce their will and push their agenda forward. It’s a cycle of control we see all the time. Rinse and repeat.
Out of the crowd, only fifteen Republicans stood against this bill, with Thomas Massie giving a shout-out to this group, himself included, as the counter-culture warriors taking a stand to prevent future abuse and censorship.
Thank these 15 Republicans for voting against the “TikTok Ban” bill this week that would give Presidents broad authority to ban popular social media apps they deem to be controlled by foreign adversaries.
I believe this bill will be abused to infringe on the rights of Americans. pic.twitter.com/XN4VvsxJSW

Tucker Carlson has been an outspoken critic of this bill, and for good reason.
In a classified briefing this afternoon, attended by officials from the Biden Justice Department, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Elon committed “election interference” in 2022 by “changing the algorithms” on X to alter the results of the midterms that year.
Not coincidentally, the anti-TikTok legislation now being debated on the Hill would allow the federal government to force the sale of any social media platform that interferes in elections. Just so you know what’s coming in 2025.

Even Sean Lennon, John Lennon’s son, really understands the score. It’s not about whether you’re a fan of TikTok or not; it’s about keeping the government’s nose out of our business. They’ve already ballooned to an unwieldy size and, frankly, have no right to dictate our choices. Considering they can’t even manage basic responsibilities like running the country or securing our borders, why should we listen to them about what apps we can use?
I hate TikTok. It’s clearly not healthy. But banning it seems to set a bad precedent. There must be a better way to deal with this.

Yet, Steve Bannon believes that when it comes to the TikTok ban, nobody nailed it quite like Darren Beattie from Revolver, and he’s right.
And it’s no surprise that Revolver is all over this issue. Last year, we published a viral piece on this very topic:
While the GOP Focuses on TikTok, Google Prepares to Devour Everyone Whole
The whole “ban” situation is a bit of a hot topic. Those backing the bill see it not as a “ban,” but as a chance to transfer TikTok’s ownership to an American company, thinking this move will magically reduce spying, tracking, and data-collecting concerns. It seems they’ve conveniently forgotten to log into Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat for a quick reality check. The issue is, ban or sale, what we’re doing with this bill is handing so much power over to a bunch of people who can’t wait to censor us. That’s what Vivek explained in a post on X:
There’s a real possibility that after TikTok is divested to new owners, the platform continues to work *exactly* as it does today, yet we’ve vastly expanded federal power to punish disfavored actors in the future. Here’s a solution: the Senate should propose a competing bill that bans *any* tech company from transferring U.S. user data to any government & require timely public disclosure of any government demands to moderate, amplify, or suppress user-generated content. This is the way.

Vivek was responding to Senator Mike Lee’s post, where he explained why he’s not a fan of this bill but what he would be willing to do. Here’s what Sen. Lee said:
I have always been concerned by big tech companies, whether American or otherwise, collecting the data of American citizens.
I’m also against the current bill to ban TikTok.
As written, the bill gives the president the authority to unilaterally determine which foreign-owned companies present a “national security threat,” and can unilaterally order these companies to be divested from their foreign owners.
We already have the CFIUS process in law to require divestment when national security risks arise with the foreign ownership of a company. It has been used 558 times to make declarations related to potential divestitures since 2018.
The current bill does not impose new restrictions on social media and tech companies from harvesting and selling our data. Nothing in it prevents an American company that buys TikTok from selling user data to the Chinese Government, for example.
This TikTok ban would, however, give broad new powers to the Executive Branch at the expense of the Legislative Branch—and one can only imagine how Joe Biden or future presidents like him could abuse them.
Why do all the domestic spying hawks—politicians fighting against FISA reform who want to continue unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens—support forcing the sale of TikTok?
Simple: they want your data for themselves
I’m open to legislation preventing the CCP from using TikTok to collect our data. But not this bill.
Always be suspicious when anyone in Washington declares they need special powers because of an emergency—especially if both parties are cheerleading it.
Let’s not forget that one of the most egregious perpetrators of the misuse of our data is our own government.
But there could be one slightly bright spot amidst all this. A former associate of Trump is rallying his resources to make a bid for the digital platform. This move could, at the very least, bring a smirk of satisfaction to Trump’s face.
Former Trump administration Transportation Secretary Steven Mnuchin is reportedly pooling together an investment group that intends to purchase TikTok if the app is ultimately sold by its Chinese Communist Party-affiliated owner.
The news follows the Wednesday passage of a bipartisan bill in the House of Representatives that seeks to force TikTok to be sold by its Chinese parent company ByteDance or face a nationwide ban in the U.S.
The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act easily passed in the House 352-65.
Republicans and Democrats have expressed concerns that TikTok is a national security threat.
Mnuchin said that he hoped he and others could end up with the keys to the video-sharing application. No doubt, this would please President Trump if this is how it all went down. The former Trump White House official said he supports the bill to force the sale of TikTok. “I think the legislation should pass, and I think it should be sold,” Mnuchin said of the bill.
Again, the real worry should be about the potential long-term effects of this bill. It’s like we never learn from our past mistakes, right?
One day after the US House of Representatives voted to force TikTok to divest from China or be banned, Donald Trump’s former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says he is putting together a group to buy TikTok.

We’re heading down a very slippery slope. Give the Dems an inch, and they’ll run with it for miles, potentially putting platforms like Truth, X, and Rumble in jeopardy. Of course, Facebook, the regime-approved social media site, will remain unscathed.
Biden and the Dems have two likely reasons to want to “ban” TikTok, or at least gain control of it. 1) is the “free Palestine” movement that is flooding TikTok, and 2) is the pro-Trump messaging that’s also become very popular on the platform.
What's more believable – an 81 year-old man actually understands how the TikTok algorithm works, or he just doesn't want those dang kids sympathizing with Palestinians? pic.twitter.com/TkcVVfal5R

Our government has already stepped on our constitutional rights under the guise of “public health” during the so-called “pandemic.” Now, with the TikTok ban, they’re playing the same card—claiming to “protect” us from external threats while stripping away our freedoms. If you believe they won’t concoct more reasons for further bans, you’re not paying attention. It’s a familiar playbook, the consequences are dire, and once more, we find ourselves conceding “victories” to the Democrats without even fighting.
