There’s a lot that’s troubling about the “climate cult.” It’s more like an eerie religion with very little actual concern for the planet and a whole lot more focus on power, control, and raking in enormous profits. One of the most contentious aspects of the Marxist green movement is wind energy. It’s marketed to the public as this almost magical, completely eco-friendly solution, but in reality, it’s a colossal environmental catastrophe, and the left doesn’t give a damn.
Back in 2020, Bloomberg wrote a riveting piece on wind turbine blades and how they’re not recyclable and are now piling up in landfills all over the country.
A wind turbine’s blades can be longer than a Boeing 747 wing, so at the end of their lifespan they can’t just be hauled away. First, you need to saw through the lissome fiberglass using a diamond-encrusted industrial saw to create three pieces small enough to be strapped to a tractor-trailer.
The municipal landfill in Casper, Wyoming, is the final resting place of 870 blades whose days making renewable energy have come to end. The severed fragments look like bleached whale bones nestled against one another.
“That’s the end of it for this winter,” said waste technician Michael Bratvold, watching a bulldozer bury them forever in sand. “We’ll get the rest when the weather breaks this spring.”Tens of thousands of aging blades are coming down from steel towers around the world and most have nowhere to go but landfills. In the U.S. alone, about 8,000 will be removed in each of the next four years. Europe, which has been dealing with the problem longer, has about 3,800 coming down annually through at least 2022, according to BloombergNEF. It’s going to get worse: Most were built more than a decade ago, when installations were less than a fifth of what they are now.
Built to withstand hurricane-force winds, the blades can’t easily be crushed, recycled or repurposed. That’s created an urgent search for alternatives in places that lack wide-open prairies. In the U.S., they go to the handful of landfills that accept them, in Lake Mills, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Casper, where they will be interred in stacks that reach 30 feet under.
“The wind turbine blade will be there, ultimately, forever,” said Bob Cappadona, chief operating officer for the North American unit of Paris-based Veolia Environnement SA, which is searching for better ways to deal with the massive waste. “Most landfills are considered a dry tomb.”
“The last thing we want to do is create even more environmental challenges.”Alarming footage of the discarded remains of a wind farm in Queensland, Australia. Not only are these monstrosities a blight on the countryside when they’re in operation, killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of bats and birds in the process, every single year—once their working life of just 15-20 years is up, they cannot be recycled, so they end up being dumped in nature, or in landfills. Contrary to propaganda spouted by the Net Zero cult, and the trillion dollar “renewable” energy industry, wind turbines are not renewable or “green” in the slightest.
And if that’s not bad enough for you, there’s more unfortunate news. It turns out that despite the lies from the left-wing media and environmentalists, thanks to payoffs from the wind industry, wind turbines are indeed killing whales.
Drilling foundations for offshore wind turbines and sound pulses used to prepare for the 900-foot towers may be creating a “death zone” for whales, a former Greenpeace chief claims.
Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace and its ex-president in Canada, believes the acoustic systems used by vessels surveying the ocean floor harm the marine mammals’ sense of hearing – risking their crucial ability to navigate, and leading to more dead whales washing up onshore.
His intervention comes after four minke whale corpses were discovered between Thursday and Sunday in New York and New England, one of them on Friday in Moriches Bay, close to Westhampton, Long Island.
The four-day run of death began in Eastham, on Cape Cod, Mass., on Thursday, with a second minke found at York, Maine, on Friday, and the final corpse at Gloucester, Mass. on Sunday.
At least 36 “large” whales have washed up along the East Coast since Dec. 1, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
It tracks the deaths of “large” species in the Atlantic including minke, humpback, bowhead, fin, sei, sperm and blue North Atlantic right whales.
A shocking new video out of Australia illustrates this issue with dramatic footage of massive wind turbine blades that are sprawled across the countryside, transforming the landscape into an expanding “turbine graveyard.”
Boy, the irony here is truly off the charts. We’re burning massive amounts of fossil fuels to manufacture and maintain these turbines while pushing an agenda that ultimately leaves people cold and poor. The damage these turbines inflict on our planet, all under the guise of “green” living, is nothing short of criminal. It involves mass deforestation, the destruction of entire ecosystems, and yet, idiotic climate cultists and clueless sheep seem to accept all of this, in the name of reducing CO2. The truth is this: a genuine environmentalist wouldn’t condone the devastation of our countryside, and the harm animals, all for the sake of some unreliable and non-recyclable eyesores dotting the landscape.
