Local residents in Minnesota are outraged and calling for the recall of a soft-on-crime Hennepin County Attorney named Mary Moriarty. Mary secured her current position with a lot of “dark money” backing from some very sketchy, radical progressive groups.

American Experiment:

According to records held by the Hennepin County Elections department, Moriarty raised $294,000 for her election effort. The vast majority of her donors were from Minnesota, the vast majority of those from Minneapolis and elsewhere in the county.

However, during the peak of the 2022 campaign, Moriarty’s campaign took in dozens of donations from out-of-state contributors, many giving the maximum individual amount of $1,000. Eighteen different states and the District of Columbia were represented in the coast-to-coast donor list, from Providence, Rhode Island, to San Francisco, California.

Her haul of $294,000 was matched by outside independent expenditures. We will note two here.

The far-left activist group TakeAction Minnesota reports spending $231,000 on her behalf in 2022, all funded by “in-kind” donations from TakeAction’s 501c4 “dark money” operation. As a registered nonprofit, TakeAction is not required to reveal their donors.

That said, TakeAction’s biggest source of recent funding is the $30 million the organization raised under its brand “Black Visions Collective” in the wake of the George Floyd riots of May 2020.

TakeAction’s other donors include the usual suspects of left-wing foundations, like the San Francisco-based Tides Foundation. The Minneapolis-based McKnight Foundation (distributing a 3M fortune) reports giving TakeAction’s 501c3 charity unit $4.2 million over the past five years.

In happier days, TakeAction campaigned for Ellison and Moriarty as a team, in a series of events last fall held around the county.

Now, Ms. Moriarty is contributing to the decline of another liberal city, making it nearly unlivable. She’s convicting a police officer of manslaughter while letting the armed robber, who instigated the entire incident, walk away scot-free. Sounds like typical liberal behavior, doesn’t it?

Why else would the so-called “justice system” convict a police officer while setting an armed robber free? It’s the same mindset that lets Joe Biden, a career criminal, occupy the White House, while President Trump faces the threat of life in prison. This is a mindset rooted in communist ideology, which views prisons as a form of “fascism” and believes that the only people truly deserving of incarceration are political dissidents. So, you can see why a woman who is connected to radical “dark money” would make a move like that.

Hennepin County prosecutors dismissed charges against a driver accused of being involved in a high-speed police chase that resulted in 2021 crash that killed Leneal Frazier.

James Jeremiah Jones-Drain, 20, was facing charges of stealing a vehicle and fleeing police resulting in the death of another person in relation to a crash on July 6, 2021, which killed Frazier. The Minneapolis police officer involved in the chase, Brian Cummings, was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide for the death.

Jones-Drain was set to go to trial on Aug. 28, but prosecutors filed a motion just days before stating they are dismissing the charges “due to an inability to prove all of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt at this time.”

According to court records, around 12:30 a.m. on July 6, Cummings was pursuing an armed robbery suspect, believed to be Jones-Drain, on Lyndale Avenue North while reaching speeds around 90-100 mph and collided with Frazier’s vehicle at the intersection of North 41st Avenue.

After hitting the first vehicle, the squad car went into the southbound lane and struck a second uninvolved vehicle. Frazier’s car was pushed into a nearby bus shelter. He died at the hospital a short time later.

The armed robbery suspect fled the scene.

Cummings was charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide, pleading guilty to the latter charge in April 2023. He was sentenced earlier this month to serve less than a year at the Hennepin County workhouse.

Jones-Drain wasn’t arrested until January 2023, and he pleaded not guilty to the charges related to the fatal crash, which have now been dismissed. However, Jones-Drain remains in custody for other pending charges including simple robbery and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Cummings’ lawyer Tom Plunkett gave FOX 9 the following statement about the dismissal:

“Mr. Cummings risked his life many times to protect people. He sits in jail. Mr. Jones-Drain, a gun toting thief, who bears responsibility for the death of Leneal Frazier, and stole from the innocent gets a break?  Minneapolis is a better place to be a criminal than a law enforcement officer.”

So, the cop now faces about a year behind bars, and the actual bad guy is freely roaming the streets — again, dangerous and failed liberal policies at work.

You reap what you sow at the ballot box. The elites relish this chaos because they’re far-removed from it — safely tucked behind gated walls. Meanwhile, the rest of us are left to navigate a progressive world where thugs and bad guys rule the streets.
