During a Twitter Spaces chat, independent reporter Alx asked Elon about his thoughts on the “meme trial” of Douglass Mackey, who was recently convicted of “conspiracy” for sharing a parody meme mocking Hillary Clinton voters back in 2016.
Elon issued a rather bold statement on the outrageous, politically-driven conviction of Mr. Mackey, who now faces up to ten years in a federal prison.
I asked @ElonMusk about Douglass Mackey, who the Biden DOJ wants to send to prison for 10 years for posting a Hillary Clinton Meme in 2016:
“Over the top… they went too far… If that’s the standard for throwing someone in prison, then there should be a lot of people in prison.” pic.twitter.com/X2m8wnj7jl

RELATED: It takes a LOT to shock Joe Rogan, but Doug Mackey’s “meme trial” verdict makes him audibly GASP…
It’s monumental when somebody like Elon speaks out on an issue like this. It can propel something from 0 to 60 in .2 seconds.
Jack Posobiec summed it up nicely with this tweet.
3 million people just heard that Joe Biden threw a guy in jail for posting memes

Mr. Mackey is still fighting for his free speech rights and yours too. He will be appealing his case, but he needs our help to win. You can support Mr. Mackey and his appeal process regarding this very important First Amendment case by donating to his legal defense fund; the Meme Defense Fund. He’s also accepting crypto here, and GiveSendGo here. If you’re concerned about privacy you can give anonymously: https://douglassmackey.substack.com/p/give-anonymously. If you’re not familiar with this case, we encourage you to read the two Revolver pieces here and here.
Besides the Twitter Space segment with Alx, Elon Musk was in rare form last night during a dramatic and extremely interesting interview with BBC reporter James Clayton, who is probably full of regret right now—the interview went sideways right out of the gate.
A good rule of thumb for Mr. Clayton and any reporter moving forward is, if you’re going to come at Elon, you best have your facts in order, because hyper-emotional “gotcha” questions and nutty progressive statements won’t cut it with the world’s richest man.
Mr. Clayton found that out the hard and painful way.
Elon: "You can't give me a single example of this 'hateful content.' Name a single example"
Journalist: "…Let's move on!" pic.twitter.com/8yH3OFgS2K
— Jack Poso ?? (@JackPosobiec) April 12, 2023
But things got worse for Mr. Clayton when Elon targeted the BBC for the plethora of misinformation and fake news they carelessly spread about COVID.
Mr. Clayton, again, wanted to move on.
.@ElonMusk: COVID is no longer an issue. Does the BBC hold itself at all responsible for misinformation regarding masking and side effects of vaccinations and not reporting on that at all?
BBC reporter: This is not an interview about the BBC pic.twitter.com/gpuVgfag2Q

Of course, when the BBC was forced to cover the brutal interview, they made sure to do some “selective editing” in order to try and save face. In other words, the BBC printed more of its famous “fake news.”
Look at how the BBC is covering the interview
They omitted the part where Elon challenged this journalist on ‘hateful content’
The article actually says the BBC challenged ELON on hate speech!
This is why he required the live Twitter Spaceshttps://t.co/A4IQ4pF4J9

After the savage interview concluded, one Twitter user made a very keen observation: “Elon Musk is learning firsthand the BS of the legacy media outlets like BBC. This man is gonna strip Journos of all their special status by the time it’s all said and done.”
Indeed. We’ve already witnessed tensions growing between Elon and NPR and The New York Times, among others. In the end, it’s not Elon who will suffer, the legacy media will take yet another credibility hit—which they can’t afford.
