When Americans say they feel like the justice system is upside down, this story is why.

A man stands accused of executing a sleeping husband – a CEO of a charity group – in his own bed, with his wife lying right beside him and children in the house. Most people would expect a trial, evidence presented, and, if he were found guilty of this horrific crime, he’d be sent off to prison.
Wrong.
This outcome looked very different and far more in line with today’s pro-criminal/soft-on-crime mindset from the bench.
Instead of a trial and a prison sentence, the judge accepted an insane (pun intended) insanity plea deal that removes the case from the normal criminal track entirely.
People are furious.
Northern Virginia justice: A man murdered Gret Glyer execution style, shot him 10x as he slept next to his wife, kids in the next room. Murderer wrote it down in “The Plan,” @SteveDescano
& staff jerk victim’s family around for 3 yrs, take a flimsy insanity plea, send murderer to mental health facility, where he will be evaluated and eligible for release soon and over and over, each time potentially free and dangerous again.

This is the exact fear people have when prosecutors and judges get together and choose the path of least resistance in violent cases. These poor families get dragged through the mud, and then it ends with a deal that feels completely disconnected from the bloody brutality of what actually happened.
That’s why this is the case that shines yet another light on a justice system that seems way more focused on managing the defendant than delivering justice for victims. And once again, we’re left wondering about the judges and prosecutors making these irresponsible calls. Are they being overly cautious to the point of naiveté, or is this the typical soft-on-crime approach to violence that has a chokehold in too many courtrooms?
Well, once you understand more about who was prosecuting this case, it will likely start to make more sense.
It’s bad enough in Richmond right now, but the rest of Virginia is just as awful. Right now the Soros DA of Fairfax County, Steve Descano, is planning to let a heinous murderer go free on an obviously horseshit insanity plea. Joshua Danehower snuck into Gret Glyer’s family home and shot him ten times. Every aspect of the murder was premeditated: He wrote a manifesto, described how he was going to carry out the crime, and carried out that plan in detail. He snuck into the home at night. He wore dark clothes to avoid being seen. He planned what road to take upon fleeing to escape the scene quickly. He wanted to kill Gret Glyer because Glyer had married a woman he had gone on one date with a decade prior, and then subsequently stalked. Now, he’s spent the past 4 years play-acting mental illness to avoid life in prison, and Descano is going along with it because, like most Soros prosecutors, he loves criminals and despises their victims. Descano belongs in jail and Danehower belongs on a gallows. Outrageous.

This is yet another example of the justice system being twisted into a pretzel to put criminals ahead of victims.

Now here is what the local reporting says happened and how this outcome was supposedly justified.
The man accused of killing the CEO of a non-profit in Fairfax County in 2022 has been granted an insanity plea deal.
That little line reveals the entire controversy. “Granted.” That word says a lot. This wasn’t some plea to a lesser charge or a standard sentencing fight, was it? No. This was the legal system deciding that the accused belongs in a different category entirely, for whatever social or political reason. Likely Marxism.
And the family saw this coming from a mile away.
The Fox 5 piece goes on:
The family members of the victim are upset, telling FOX 5 they believed the case was headed this way a month ago.
Clearly, many Americans have lost trust in the justice system for a reason. We see some version of this twisted story playing out every week. That’s why the family says they could see this outcome coming from a mile away. And when families start to feel like decisions are already made and they are being managed instead of heard, it only reinforces the belief that the system has flipped for the bad guys.
Fox 5 explains what this plea actually means in the real world and how this helps the bad guy and leaves the family victimized yet again.
The insanity plea agreement essentially recuses him from serving time in prison. He will instead be remanded to a mental institution.
And no, a mental facility isn’t the same thing as a prison sentence, not even close. Now this stone-cold killer will have the option for review processes, evaluations, and the possibility of release down the road, which is exactly what scares families and communities. Would you want this “cured” guy living next to you? Probably not.
And prosecutors’ description of the violence is even more horrific and really makes this ruling disturbing. The Fox 5 piece continues:
Fairfax County prosecutors say Danehower shot Glyer nearly a dozen times while Glyer and his wife were sleeping in bed.
“Nearly a dozen times” isn’t a momentary crazy moment. That sounds a lot like overkill, and that’s why people don’t want to hear a system talk about mercy first. They want a system that can still recognize straight up evil when it sees it.
Obviously, the family is frustrated and hurt. And it doesn’t help when they are forced to listen to nonsensical explanations from the prosecution. The Fox 5 piece concludes:
The Glyer family’s hurt and disappointment are completely valid and more than understandable. Our clinical expert had previously found the defendant to be legally insane at the time of the offense, which now makes two independent experts who have reached that conclusion; these findings mean the Commonwealth would be unable to meet our burden of proof at a trial.
This family just wants (and deserves) justice for their murdered family member.
Not to mention, a close friend of the deceased says the killer had a manifesto and plotted out the crime.
I was Gret’s friend.
His murderer had a manifesto. A kill list. A written plan.
Gret’s murder was premeditated.

Fox 5’s video coverage goes into more detail on the level of violence in this case.
Watch:
When a sleeping man is shot nearly a dozen times in his own bed, and the process ends with a half-baked insanity plea that keeps the accused out of prison, ordinary Americans are going to start asking whether the system has drifted into even more left-wing pro-criminal territory.

If Soros-backed prosecutors and weak, activist judges cannot stop putting their politics and social justice priorities ahead of victims and actual justice, something serious needs to be done before more innocent people are hurt or killed.
