Every election cycle, super-rich, out-of-touch white Dem politicians try to convince us that they’ve got some mega magical connection with minority voters. They claim to understand minority struggles, speak their language, and know exactly what these communities need. How do they know this? Well, nobody’s known until now. Apparently, wealthy white liberals understand black voters because they also have low SAT scores and can’t read.

Yes, you heard that right.

Gavin Newsom just announced this to the world.

At an event that was supposed to focus on outreach to black voters, Newsom twisted himself into a pretzel, trying to present himself as relatable to black folks. Instead, Gavin wandered straight into the kind of tone-deaf territory that has swallowed Dems whole for years. Not the open hostility kind of stuff, but something just as evil. That soft, patronizing vibe is called the “bigotry of low expectations.”

For readers who may not be familiar with the phrase, it refers to a mindset the left encapsulates, where they believe minority groups need special intellectual or behavioral allowances because they’re so unskilled and unable. They dress up this bigotry as compassion or empathy, or even “rescuing.” But the real world sees it for what it is: condescension.

And Newsom just handed that critique gallons of fresh fuel.

Here is the moment that’s making the rounds online. While trying to emphasize that he’s a totally-relatable-and-not-elite-kinda-guy, Newsom basically called all black people low-IQ dullards.

You can see why that statement landed with all the grace of a dropped anvil. Newsom was clearly trying to come across as down-to-earth and self-deprecating. But the way it came out was patronizing and deeply out of touch and impossible for any sane person to defend.

The bigger political problem for Newsom isn’t just the condescending line. It’s this gross pattern voters are watching. Ever since President Trump blew up the traditional political playbook, these highfalutin politicians have been scrambling to sound natural and less scripted. Trump does it with ease because that’s his actual style. When career politicians try to imitate it, it’s a cringe fest.

And that is exactly why Newsom is knee-deep in a “bigotry of low expectations” mess right now.

But the real twist in this story isn’t just what Newsom said. It’s who he was actually talking to in that room… and if you think it was black people, you’d be very wrong.

Because the backlash against Gavin has mostly been centered around whether the comments were condescending toward black voters. Yes. They were. But there’s more to this story, because as Chris Rufo points out, the clapping and cheering audience was actually white.

Clearly, there’s a major disconnect between the intended audience for that message and the actual crowd in attendance.

They look like they can read.

Chris’s observation changes the frame big time. If the room was heavily white, then the obvious follow-up question becomes: who exactly was this performance meant to resonate with?

Illiterate, low IQ blacks or smart, well-read white folks?

This is really where the Dems’ “compassionate condescension” dynamic comes to life. The concern now is about the political culture in left-wing elite circles that assumes minority communities need to be spoken about and advocated for in a very particular, patronizing way.

Similar things have surfaced before when prominent Dems tried to show off big empathy vibes and ended up sounding out of touch and totally rude in the process.

Who can forget when New York Governor Kathy Hochul said black people don’t know what a computer is?

Moments like this doozy here are why the term “bigotry of low expectations” fits so perfectly. The left likes to claim that these comments are just their way to highlight inequality. But those of us in the real world know they reinforce the same stereotypes politicians claim they are trying to dismantle.

At some point you have to wonder, are black voters as incapable as Dems claim they are? Is that why they continue voting for scammy politicians who treat them this way?

You can’t blame people for wondering, especially since it’s Dems who are pushing this stereotype to its limits.

But don’t worry, Dems mock us everyday white folks too. Remember when Chuck Schumer barbecued those infamous cheeseburgers? He still can’t live that one down.

Political authenticity is hard to fake, and thanks to Trump, voters can quickly spot when something feels forced and off.

Gavin Newsom wants desperately to sound relatable, but he can’t, because he’s not and never will be.

We’ll leave you with this meme, which we think sums this mess up perfectly.
