Bill and Hillary Clinton chose defiance over the “precious democracy” they never stop lecturing the rest of the country about.

The dirty duo was scheduled to testify before Congress today in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and they refused to show up. They skipped the deposition and immediately pivoted to the spin zone, releasing a very lawyered statement with the responses turned off, so nobody could call them out.

It was a calculated move that made one thing very clear: they’d rather lecture the public about transparency than submit themselves to it under oath.

Gee, I wonder why?

What makes this moment so striking is the absurd double standard. The Clintons are demanding full disclosure from the Department of Justice while declining to provide a single answer. They insist the public deserves the truth, just not the version of “truth” that requires them to sit in front of lawmakers and explain their seedy ties to a convicted child rapist.

The Oversight Committee was operating this morning as if the deposition were moving ahead. Then Clinton ghosted everybody. Now, Comer says, they’ll seek contempt charges.

This is where precedent matters…

Steve Bannon went to jail for refusing to cooperate with the sham January 6 committee.

Peter Navarro went to jail for the same reason.

That committee was openly partisan and designed to punish political opponents, yet the law was enforced swiftly and without one moment’s hesitation.

So, if that standard applies to Trump allies, it must apply here as well, and with equal quickness.

Contempt of Congress carries real-life penalties, including prison time and substantial fines. If Congress allows the Clintons to walk away without consequence, it will confirm what many Americans already believe: that there is one system of justice for political dynasties and another for the rest of us.

If the dirty duo is found guilty of contempt, Congress can send US Capitol Police to arrest them and bring them before lawmakers. Let’s hope CNN gets a heads-up and is waiting in the bushes, just like they were for Roger Stone.
