Team Trump is finally going straight for the pressure point nobody in the political class ever wants to talk about… remittances. And if the plan works the way it’s designed, the gravy train that’s been draining American communities for decades is about to go belly up.
Before we get into the details of what President Trump wants to do and why, we need to talk about what “remittances” actually are. Because most Americans don’t realize just how massive this system is or how much of our economy has been very quietly bleeding out thanks to it.
Remittances are simple: illegals come here, take jobs, use our schools, hospitals, roads, and services, and then send a massive chunk of their money back to their home countries instead of spending it inside the US economy. They don’t invest here. They don’t build here. They don’t stimulate anything here. They drain, extract, and wire it out.
And according to a confidential CIA memo from 1983, illegal immigrants were already sending one-third of their earnings home even back then, for crying out loud. Mexico openly admitted that its entire economy depended on it. But hey, why hide it? They knew we wouldn’t stop it.
But as you can imagine, today, the scam is even bigger. They come here, collect housing, food, healthcare, and benefits, and then send money home while American taxpayers foot every single bill along the way.

Nobody plays the game better than the people sneaking into our country. They know exactly what they’re doing and how to milk our system dry. They use our system, drain our coffers, and build their lives somewhere else. And every politician who’s ignored it has been helping them screw hardworking Americans.
Thankfully now, Trump is stepping up to stop this scam.
Here are the details.
The Trump administration is working toward cutting illegal migrants off from federal tax benefits and money transfer services, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Friday.
“At [President Trump’s] direction, we are working to cut off federal benefits to illegal aliens and preserve them for U.S. citizens,” Bessent wrote on X.

In a separate social media post, Bessent warned that illegal migrants “use our financial institutions to move their illicitly obtained funds.”
Describing that practice as “exploitation,” the Treasury secretary vowed: “It will end.”
“[President Trump] is right — if you’re here illegally, there’s no place for you in our financial system,” Bessent wrote.
The post came on the same day the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Bureau issued an alert to money services businesses — such as check cashers, remittance processors and digital payment processors — asking them to be “vigilant in identifying suspicious financial activity involving illegal aliens who present significant threats to national security and public safety.”
The alert noted that money services businesses (MSBs) are generally required to file a suspicious activity report for a transaction that involves at least $2,000 and may violate federal law, including a “cross-border transfer of funds derived from unlawful employment or otherwise derived from funds the MSB knows, suspects, or has reason to suspect were illicitly obtained in the United States.”
Sure, taxing remittances is better than nothing. Slapping a one percent fee on the money they’re sending back home is at least a start. But what Scott Bessent tossed out next is the real game changer. This is the moment that turns the entire remittance pipeline on its head.
Because here’s the truth: if illegal aliens aren’t legally allowed to work in the United States, then every dollar they earn here is technically unlawful. And if that money is unlawful, then the government doesn’t just have the right to tax it. It can seize the entire remittance.
That’s the nuclear option and the lever nobody has ever touched. And if Trump’s team pulls it, it’s lights out for the entire scam. No more draining our economy while living off American benefits. No more “send money home, live here for free.” No more riding the system like some wild Vegas jackpot.
Everything got rolling when President Trump posted this Thanksgiving message on Twitter:

As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for “prey” as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone. The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst “Congressman/woman” in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our Country, its Constitution, and how “badly” she is treated, when her place of origin is a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation, which is essentially not even a country for lack of Government, Military, Police, schools, etc. Even as we have progressed technologically, Immigration Policy has eroded those gains and living conditions for many. I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization. These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations, including those admitted through an unauthorized and illegal Autopen approval process. Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. What a gift to wake up to. Now if the admin can follow through with action appropriate to match the force of the words, including plowing through whatever spurious procedural roadblocks Dems might put up, we can finally go from “stop digging” to climbing our way out of the hole.

In four short years, the Biden team flooded the country with what amounts to about twelve years of illegal immigration. They did it deliberately. They wanted a new voting bloc that was not American, and they wanted a class of people who would rely on government programs for survival. It was a win for the Dems and a win for the illegals who arrived ready to milk every benefit they could.
It was a disaster for everyone else.
Now the country is sitting in a hole that will take real work to climb out of. That’s why the move from Trump’s team, including Scott Bessent, hits so hard. If the US starts seizing remittances because the income was earned illegally, the entire business model collapses. Illegals stop coming because the money stops flowing. Dems stop getting their imported voters because the pipeline dries up.
The result would be a win/win for the American people.
Turn off the financial faucet and watch the numbers fall on their own. This is a giant step towards undoing the damage and putting Americans first again.
