There’s a very real fight brewing inside the GOP, and it has nothing to do with policy or ideas. It’s the same old neocon crowd, those tired old Bush-era, Israel-first, forever-war Republicans who are trying to claw their way back to power after a decade living in the political wilderness. These people miss the old GOP so badly it hurts. The era when the party shipped American jobs overseas, flooded the labor market with foreign workers, rubber-stamped every war America didn’t need, and treated conservative voters like a pain in the butt.

They think their comeback tour is coming right after Trump’s second term ends. So, they’re using any conflict they can to gain a foothold. Their latest move is using online moral-panic campaigns to fracture the MAGA movement from the sidelines.

One of the leaders of this charge is none other than Mark Levin. Yes, the same Mark Levin who vowed he’d never back President Trump.

Take a look:

Mark Levin was quietly in the Ron DeSantis camp in 2024, but he kept his options open because he knew DeSantis was a long shot and wanted a backup. His stepson even worked on the DeSantis campaign as the outreach guy for the Jewish vote. Now he’s reluctantly behind Donald Trump, and it’s not exactly a secret why. If he doesn’t stay in line, he risks ending up like Bill Kristol or Karl Rove… sidelined, bitter, and completely irrelevant to the future of the movement.

But Levin is clearly making his move with the other neocons like Ben Shapiro. Their latest attempt is attacking Tucker Carlson for questioning the Israeli government and screaming that MAGA must “disavow” individuals whom the neocons don’t like. The neocons sure do know how to weaponize headlines with their strategic media allies. They want Republicans running around apologizing and denouncing each other, just like the old days, while Democrats laugh and move the ball downfield with guys like Jay Jones.

And that brings us to this conversation between Jillian Michaels and Donald Trump Jr. Michaels argues that moderates who fled the left are “alarmed” if the right doesn’t disavow Nick Fuentes, and that failing to do so hands the country over to Newsom or worse. Don Jr. isn’t buying it. He pushed back with some actual common sense: forced denunciations and predictable outrage cycles are the same traps the old GOP fell into for years. Bad ideas expose themselves. Censorship and purity tests only empower the people who want MAGA gone.

Ain’t that the truth…

The Fuentes drama is nothing but a cheap excuse. The Tucker attacks are falling way short and actually working against the neocons. This isn’t an official poll, but it gives you a pretty good idea of where the internet stands on the issue:

The real story here is the same tired crew on the right is trying to claw their way back into relevance by stirring up panic and those old Paul Ryan-style purity tests. You know, the “that’s not who we are” crowd. These relics lost control of the movement years ago, and now they’re poking at every crack they can find, hoping something breaks and allows them back in.

Don Jr. sees what’s happening, and he’s not playing the game.

This whole dust-up is a reminder that the old GOP playbook is dead and gone. The neocons can poke, prod, and try to manufacture panic all they want, but those failed ideas from the last forty or more years are not making a comeback. Will they keep trying to stir up trouble and create division? Of course. That’s all they know how to do.

But at the end of the day, they will never convince the MAGA base to back their agenda again. Without MAGA, they can’t win a primary, a movement, or a future. Donald Trump Jr. is right to sound the alarm. The sooner this little establishment uprising gets stomped out, the better.
