Some people just can’t hide who they really are, and for Cali Dem Katie Porter, that gigantic mask slipped a long time ago. The woman running for governor… who once threw scalding hot mashed potatoes on her husband’s head during a rage fit… is back in the headlines for doing what she does best: losing her temper.

Porter has a long, sordid history of explosive behavior, from berating her ex-husband and staffers to allegedly shattering household items during fights. Now, she’s carried that same fury straight into her campaign trail. During what should’ve been a routine sit-down with CBS, Porter completely unraveled on camera, snapping at the reporter, getting defensive over basic questions, and threatening to storm out of the interview.

It’s the kind of meltdown that doesn’t just raise eyebrows… it ends campaigns.

Here’s a quick look back at her past, to remind everyone of Katie’s rage.

The former husband of Rep. Katie Porter said the California Democrat frequently abused him verbally and threw “toys, books and other objects” at him during their marriage — even pouring scalding-hot mashed potatoes on his head during a fight, according to divorce records.

Matthew Hoffman, who filed for divorce from Porter in 2013, said in a request for a restraining order dated April 30 of that year that he was “routinely” called a “f—ing idiot” and “f—ing incompetent” by his rage-prone spouse, who also shattered a glass coffee pot on their kitchen counter in March 2012 when she felt their house wasn’t clean enough. “She would not let me have a cell phone because she said, ‘You’re too f—ing dumb to operate it,’”

Hoffman said of Porter, 49, who has also been accused of ridiculing former members of her staff. “When she gets angry, she will claw and scratch her arms and then say to me ‘Look what you made me do!’” Hoffman also said in the records, first obtained by DailyMail.com.

“She regularly says that I am a bad parent in front of the kids … Recently the children began spitting at me and throwing their food at me, calling me ‘bad daddy.’”

And now, fast-forward to her latest train wreck… that CBS interview that went viral for all the wrong reasons.

Porter couldn’t even handle a simple question about how she plans to win over Trump voters without losing her cool. Instead of showing composure, she went into “b-on-wheels” mode.

California gubernatorial candidate and former Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) tried to end an interview with a reporter after she was asked what she would say to voters in the state who voted for President Trump. “What do you say to the 40 percent of California voters, who you’ll need in order to win, who voted for Trump?”

CBS News correspondent Julie Watts asked Porter in a sit-down interview that aired Tuesday and quickly went viral. “How would I need them in order to win, ma’am?” Porter responded. When asked whether she thinks she will win the other 60 percent of California voters, Porter responds “In a general election? Yes. If it is me versus a Republican, I think I will win the people who did not vote for Trump.”

Watts then asks Porter what she thinks would happen if it was her versus another Democrat, to which Porter said, “I don’t intend that to be the case.” Porter argued she has already built support in terms of name recognition. The latest in politics and policy.

Porter then appeared to become irritated when Watts pressed her, saying the interview was becoming “unnecessarily argumentative.” Watts said CBS News has asked the other reporters in the race the same question.

“I don’t want to keep doing this. I’m gonna call it. Thank you,” Porter says, looking off camera.

The defensiveness, the sarcasm, the simmering anger, it’s all there. For a candidate who already has a record of outbursts and abusive behavior, this could be the nail in the coffin.

Katie Porter just proved, once again, that she doesn’t have the temperament, stability, or even the basic self-control to lead anything, let alone the largest, messiest state in the country. You can’t talk about “California values” while berating your ex-husband, mistreating your staff, and melting down on live TV.
