“Climate change activists are at it again.”
Climate change activists vandalized one of the world’s most famous paintings of Christopher Columbus in the Naval Museum in Madrid today.
2 young female activists from “Futuro Vegetal” threw red paint over “First Tribute to Christopher Columbus” which was painted in 1892 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Columbus first voyage to the New World.
The activists said they vandalized the painting to denounce “extractive neocolonialism exploiting Indigenous lands and natural resources”

Metro TV:
Visitors were left stunned when two activists from the environmental group Futuro Vegetal defaced a popular painting with red paint at Madrid’s Naval Museum on Sunday.
Footage shows two activists splashing biodegradable red paint on Jose Garnelo’s ‘The First Tribute to Columbus’. Bystanders and museum staff intervened swiftly, detaining the pair until authorities arrived to take them into custody.
The damage affected the left side of the 1892 painting, which was on display at the museum’s main entrance.
The act coincided with the anniversary of Columbus’s 1492 arrival in the Americas, commemorated on October 12.
