Most people think the left’s obsession with “racial justice” in policing started with George Floyd. It didn’t. That was just the match thrown on an already blazing bonfire that really started to take shape many years ago. The groundwork for dismantling America’s criminal justice system was laid over a decade earlier, back in 2010, with a book that quietly reprogrammed an entire generation of Democrats.
That book was The New Jim Crow, and it did a number on our country, and most of you have probably never even heard of it.

The book was written by a female civil rights lawyer (of course) named Michelle Alexander.

In it, Ms. Alexander argued that America had replaced segregation with a new system of racial control… mass incarceration. Her theory claimed that after the civil rights movement ended, the justice system itself became the tool to keep racial hierarchies intact. “Felon” was the new “N-word.” Laws were just another disguise for discrimination.
This is straight out of the Marxist 101 handbook.
But Ms. Alexander made it all sound so deep and profound. Like all things “radical,” the book was packaged as compassion. But in reality, it was the intellectual trigger that unleashed a wave of soft-on-crime insanity that’s still wrecking left-wing cities today.
Professors taught it. Judges quoted it. Activists built entire platforms on it. And suddenly, criminal behavior wasn’t criminal anymore; it was “systemic oppression.”
That’s how we ended up with Soros-backed DAs dropping charges, violent offenders getting released on bail, and politicians openly calling to “reimagine” policing. The entire “Defund the Police” movement started in the pages of that book. It is quite literally the manifesto that convinced the left that crime is never a choice, only a symptom of something racist.
And now, as this X post lays out perfectly, you’ll see how deep this poison really goes. From the ivory tower where the political elites wine and dine themselves to your local courthouses.
Buckle up, because this is one scary ride.
The New Jim Crow, arguably the most influential book on criminal justice in recent decades, and *extremely* influential among Obama-era dems, argues that after the civil-rights era dismantled explicit Jim Crow segregation, America rebuilt its racial hierarchy through the criminal-justice system. The modern felony label, the author says, was effectively repurposed to keep many of the same old barriers in place, housing, jobs, votin, just under a new, race-neutral disguise
This book wasn’t some fringe theory. It was massively influential among professors, legislators, and local judges. Because of it, and other similar activist agitprop, we now have a crop of democrats who truly in their heart of hearts believe that the American criminal justice system is a corrupt, racist institution that needs to be undermined or even dismantled at every chance. You wonder why it’s so common to read stories about violent (black) criminals getting slaps on the wrist? You can thank books like this, which claim that putting a POC into the criminal justice system would in fact be an *injustice*
So, when Dems say “um, we don’t actually want to ‘abolish the police’, that’s a fringe take,” remember that many, many of them believe a whole suite of ideas that imply that yes, abolishing the police would be moral, just thing to do

So, that’s the moment everything changed. The New Jim Crow didn’t just argue for reform; it rewired the entire moral compass of elites within the Democrat Party. And just like that, criminals became victims, punishment became oppression, and justice became racism.
This truly became the gospel of the Obama era, and now we’re living with the results: cities drowning in crime, repeat offenders running free, and a justice system that’s terrified of doing its job.
It’s interesting… if you scroll through social media posts about this book, you’ll find some pretty revealing gems. One that stands out comes from a woman who was at a get-together with her liberal pals. They were all gushing about how The New Jim Crow was “opening their minds” to new ideas until she made one simple, common-sense observation that they couldn’t handle.
Rachel Maker of Sparrow Naturals:
I remember sitting at a little house gathering in around 2017. The book “The New Jim Crow” had just come out a few years prior and so many people in my academic social groups were reading it and becoming “woke” to how black men were disproportionately incarcerated in the U.S. After talking about it for a bit, I asked someone “well what if they commit more crime? Then shouldn’t you expect higher rates of incarceration?” And the people at the table stared at me like I had 3 heads. Then someone said something like “you don’t understand. We need to do something about the racial bias in our prisons.”

Some would argue that this book—and the breathless impact it had on guilt-ridden white elites—paved the way for today’s anti-white hostility and the twisted belief that crime isn’t a choice; it’s an affliction.
This bold new type of hate has now been validated by rich white liberals.

And this book is also likely a huge reason why we’re seeing people like Mr. Nicholson, who has been arrested a staggering 33 times, and is still out on the streets murdering innocent people.
🚨#BREAKING: Sanchez Nicholson has been arrested for murdering a 29-year old in Charlotte NC.
Sanchez has been arrested a mind-boggling 33 TIMES, including for 2 attempted murders — only 13 DAYS APART.
How was this man WALKING FREE ON THE STREETS?!!!!

According to the so-called “great thinkers” on the left, Sanchez Nicholson is the poster child for the “New Jim Crow.” A man arrested so many times he could probably recite his own Miranda rights in his sleep, yet somehow, he’s the victim. Not the people he’s terrorized, not the communities he’s wrecked.

All thanks to a book written by a rich woman so consumed with so much guilt she probably can’t sleep at night. It’s way easier for her to dump that guilt on everyone else by turning career criminals into martyrs and unleashing them in your community.
