UK censorship tyrants just caved to Trump. That’s right, let’s chalk up another win for Trump in his global war against censorship. And for a change of pace, this time the battlefield wasn’t DC; it was London, where left-wing bureaucrats were trying to force Apple to build a secret “back door” into every single iPhone on the planet. The excuse they came up with was to “fight criminals.” But anyone who’s been paying attention since the dreaded “Patriot Act” knows exactly how this game works. These kinds of tools always end up being turned on ordinary people, especially those who dare to speak out against the political ruling class.

And for those who aren’t up on what was happening behind the scenes, here’s the backstory:Apple’s encryption keeps data private…texts, photos, banking info, health records, you name it. But once you open a tech “back door,” that protection is gone. Hackers and the government can get in and exploit it. And in today’s political climate, where left-wing leaders openly punish dissent, it’s not hard to imagine how fast this “security measure” would’ve been weaponized against regular people.

Thankfully, President Trump wasn’t having it.

He, along with Tulsi Gabbard and Vice President J.D. Vance, leaned hard on the UK to back off of this crackpot idea. And it worked. The Brits caved, and their scheme to force Apple into betraying Americans’ privacy went up in smoke.

Tulsi summed it up perfectly in a tweet that exposed how close we came to losing this fight, which is truly terrifying.

DNI Tulsi Gabbard:

Over the past few months, I’ve been working closely with our partners in the UK, alongside @POTUS and @VP, to ensure Americans’ private data remains private and our Constitutional rights and civil liberties are protected.

As a result, the UK has agreed to drop its mandate for Apple to provide a “back door” that would have enabled access to the protected encrypted data of American citizens and encroached on our civil liberties.

The only reason this terrifying ploy didn’t go through is because President Trump’s administration applied so much pressure.

VP Vance led the charge in this fight.

CNN:

A source familiar with the discussions told CNN that Gabbard spoke with her counterpart in the UK, Deputy National Security Advisory Matt Collins, a few times about the issue, including once when the UK delegation visited the White House. Vance was also personally involved in reaching a deal, engaging in direct conversations with British government officials to come to what was considered a “mutually beneficial” agreement for both countries, a White House official told CNN.

“This agreement between our two governments maintains each country’s sovereignty while ensuring close cooperation on data,” a White House official said.

The UK’s censorship machine just got knocked flat.

The UK government has been forced into a climbdown after trying to force Apple to build a backdoor into iCloud encryption.

Apple refused and the US Trump administration backed them and now the UK has backed down!

▪️Privacy is free speech – if the state can read everything, it can punish even private discussion.
▪️Global precedent stopped – this would have weakened security for all users.
▪️Authoritarian creep stopped – once a backdoor exists, everyone exploits it.

This marks yet another big win in the global fight for free speech. Step by step, the pushback is bringing freedom back onto the world stage. Trump’s latest move in Brazil was a free speech nuke.

In a huge move which the Brazilian government has blasted as rank political interference in its internal affairs, the Trump administration on Wednesday pulled the trigger on previously threatened sweeping tariffs on Brazil, and in addition sanctioned the judge overseeing the trial of Jair Bolsonaro, who has been accused of plotting a coup—and remains currently on trial—after rejecting the election results which brought President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to power.

“Today, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is sanctioning Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) justice Alexandre de Moraes (de Moraes), who has used his position to authorize arbitrary pre-trial detentions and suppress freedom of expression,” the US Treasury statement reads.

“De Moraes is responsible for an oppressive campaign of censorship, arbitrary detentions that violate human rights, and politicized prosecutions—including against former President Jair Bolsonaro. Today’s action makes clear that Treasury will continue to hold accountable those who threaten U.S. interests and the freedoms of our citizens.”

This is another huge shift. The Treasury is now openly admitting what populists have said for years: Bolsonaro is the target of a political witch hunt. Trump has said this exact sentiment many times, and now his administration is acting on it.

Bolsonaro recently returned from political exile in Florida and was quickly slapped with an ankle monitor and thrown into a sham trial back home. The charges are as flimsy as you’d imagine: rejecting a sketchy election and daring to challenge the globalist establishment.

Compared to Trump’s other recent tariffs, these moves against Brazil really stand out. Yes, they’re overtly political, and they should be. The US has made it clear that they will not play nice with foreign regimes that crush free speech and jail opposition leaders.

Now, all eyes are on Judge Moraes. With the pressure mounting, Lula may be forced to toss him under the bus just to keep economic ties with the US intact.

It’s a smart move from Trump. He’s using America’s economic weight to slap down Brazil’s lawfare thugs and remind the world that judicial tyranny has consequences.
