‘Street Fighter’ Reboot Has a Cast So Unhinged It’s Either Brilliant or Doomed [Updated]

July 1, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: David Dastmalchian has been cast as the main villain, M. Bison in the live-action ‘Street Fighter’ movie. This is the same role Walter Goggins was recently in talks for.

Furthermore, another WWE wrestler has been added to the cast. Cody Rhodes is in talks to portray Guile (via Nexus Point News).

So, just to recap, the eccentric ‘Street Fighter’ cast now includes Dastmalchian, Rhodes, 50 Cent, Jason Momoa, Eric Andre, Andrew Schulz, Orville Peck, Roman Reigns, Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo.

EARLIER: Of all the movie projects that probably shouldn’t exist but somehow do, the upcoming “Street Fighter” reboot is shaping up to be the crown jewel. It’s real. It’s happening. And judging by the cast list, it may very well be the most chaotic video game adaptation ever made. Count me in.

Let’s start with the big one: 50 Cent is playing Balrog. Yes, that 50 Cent. And in perhaps the most unexpected method acting commitment since Jared Leto mailed used condoms to his “Suicide Squad” co-stars, Fiddy is currently undergoing “intense martial arts training” because, get this, he wants to do his own stunts. There’s still time, Curtis. Still time to fake an injury and quietly return to your Vitamin Water empire.

Then there’s Jason Momoa as Blanka, who will be painted in slime green and roaring like a monster. Noah Centineo, whose background skews more Netflix teen-romance, has also signed on to play Ken, a casting choice that seems to confuse everyone except the casting director, who clearly lost a bet.

And then there’s podcaster and comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, a character famous for being the most annoying fighter in the Street Fighter roster — in other words, a perfect fit. Meanwhile, WWE wrestler Roman Reigns will portray Akuma, a demonic martial arts warlord cursed with godlike power.

Let’s not forget Orville Peck, a masked country singer, who will now be playing Vega, a masked, narcissistic Spanish assassin. A casting choice so surreal it might actually work. Rounding out this band of misfits is Andrew Koji as Ryu (finally, someone who fits the role), and Callina Liang as Chun-Li.

I’m not even counting Eric Andre, who is rumored, for now, to star as the bombastic ring announcer. Ditto Walter Goggins (”The White Lotus”) as the main villain.

But wait, there’s more. Kitao Sakurai, the man behind the hilarious Netflux comedy “Bad Trip,” is now directing this thing after the Philippou brothers (“Bring Her Back”) decided to step down from the project in 2024. However, not long after Sakurai was confirmed, Sony yanked “Street Fighter” off its March 2026 release calendar; we’re not entirely sure if the studio is still attached to the project.

And here’s the kicker: there’s still no writer. No Distributor. Production is somehow, against all odds and common sense, set to begin this August in Australia. Yep, they’re about to roll cameras on a movie with no script, no release date, and a cast that sounds like the result of a chaotic group text that escalated into a $100M studio gamble.

Honestly, it sounds absolutely insane. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
