There’s a real rift bubbling up inside the MAGA movement right now, and it’s all about Iran and Israel. Some see it coming, some don’t want to admit it, but it’s there. And like it or not, it needs to be talked about before it tears a hole straight through the America First base.

First, the facts on the ground: Israel’s been pounding Iran with airstrikes, mainly because they now have easy access through Syrian airspace.

That became possible after Assad was weakened and pushed aside, flipping the whole Syrian chessboard and putting that airspace back in play. With that door open, Israel can hit Iran whenever it wants, and they’re not wasting any time.

Collin Rugg:

NEW: The attack on Iran was 8 months in the making, President Trump allegedly was recently pretending to oppose the attack to catch Iran off guard, according to Axios.

The outlet reports that Israel wanted Iran to put their guard down so Iranians on their target list wouldn’t move to new locations.

According to Netanyahu’s team, the report that Trump called for Israel not to attack in a call on Monday was just a cover and the call was actually about coordinating the attack.

Trump has since responded to the attacks on Iran on Truth Social, saying he gave Iran a chance and they didn’t listen.

But here’s the problem: a large chunk of the right-wing populist, anti-war crowd sees this for exactly what it looks like: the opening act to yet another endless Middle East fiasco. Sure, Israel is handling it solo for now, but how long before Uncle Sam gets dragged into this pending mess?

Sound familiar? It should. Anyone with a memory knows how the Bush-era “Weapons of Mass Destruction” lie cost us trillions of dollars, thousands of good American lives, and gave us exactly zero regime change success stories. It left a scar on the American psyche, especially the MAGA crowd, who are tired of sacrificing their kids for dusty foreign airstrips and broken promises.

And now we’re being told, once again, that Iran is teetering on the brink of a nuke. To the populist side, that line smells an awful lot like déjà vu, except this time they suspect Israel’s intelligence community has been whispering sweet doomsday scenarios to keep us primed for conflict.

You can’t blame them for being suspicious. We’ve all been burned before.

However, is it prudent to pretend there’s no fire under all this smoke? If Iran is closer to a nuke, we likely have Barack Obama to thank for rolling out the red carpet. Remember the pallets of cash flown under the cover of night? Billions poured right into Iran’s pocket, propping up the very machine that now has everyone sweating uranium enrichment levels.

And let’s be real, it’s downright infuriating when you stop and think about what Obama did to this country.

Could Iran be closer to a nuke than we think, thanks to Barry? Sure, it’s very possible. It’s pretty safe to say Iranian leaders didn’t blow all that money on candy and peanuts. Sadly, this is more of the mess Trump inherited and has been trying to lock down for years.

And here’s where the MAGA tug-of-war gets even more tangled. Some on the populist and NeverTrump right say Trump’s getting soft, that the Neocon ghouls have gotten their claws into him, and he’s about to pivot into full-blown warmonger mode.

That’s a hard pill for most MAGA loyalists to swallow.

Because let’s be honest: does that sound like the same guy who spent years refusing to start a single new war? The same president who took endless grief for pulling troops home and forcing NATO to pay up? Trump’s track record screams peace through strength, and part of that means talking tough, acting unpredictable, and playing a few cards closer to the vest than polite D.C. society prefers.

Which is exactly what he’s doing here.

Politico:

President Donald Trump on Wednesday floated an American strike on Iranian nuclear sites as Israel and Iran enter their sixth day of conflict.

“I may do it, I may not do it,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. “I mean nobody knows what I’m going to do.”

“Iran’s got a lot of trouble, and they want to negotiate,” Trump continued. “And I said, ‘Why didn’t you negotiate with me before all this death and destruction? Why didn’t you negotiate?’ I said to people, ‘Why didn’t you negotiate with me two weeks ago? You could have done fine. You would have had a country.’”

Trump has publicly grappled with whether the United States should join Israel’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

When asked about his Truth Social Post on Tuesday calling for “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” amidst a handful of posts about Iran, Trump said Wednesday. “That means I’ve had it. OK, I’ve had it. I give up. No more.”

Trump said that he had recently spoken with an Iranian leader – though he did not state who – and the unidentified person proposed an Iranian visit to the White House.

“I said it’s very late to be talking,” Trump said. “There’s a big difference between now and a week ago, right? Big difference.”

The president warned that his patience with Iran had “already run out, that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing.”

MAGA loyalists see this for what it is: classic Trump. Bluff big, negotiate bigger, and deliver results that put America first, not Israel first, not the globalists first, but the American people first.

And let’s be honest, Iran doesn’t have a ton of cards to play here, so all the tough talk and locker room boasting can actually corner them more than usual.

But does this mean there’s zero risk? No. Israel has a proven habit of dragging America into conflicts we didn’t vote for. That’s just the plain truth, and pretending otherwise is naïve.

What we don’t want to do is end up in a proxy war with Iran. This would be the same mess that Biden dragged us into with Ukraine. In the past, Bibi has been able to convince US leaders to do his bidding. But here’s the likely difference this time around: Trump listens to his people. He knows the America First base has zero appetite for another desert disaster. He knows the country is battered, broke, and focused on fixing home before fixing the Middle East. He knows if he steps too far out of line, his base will roar back ten times louder than any corporate press pushback.

So yes, it’s smart to keep an eye on what Israel is doing. It’s wise to stay skeptical of recycled “imminent nuke” boogeymen. It’s perfectly fair to remind this administration that we’re not interested in spending our grandkids’ future on yet another pointless desert power struggle.

We also can’t forget that President Trump has been very consistent over the years on his feelings regarding Iran having nukes.

That’s why it’s important not to lose the bigger plot. Foreign policy is messy, layered, and rarely black and white. Sometimes the guy in charge has to look tougher than he really is just to keep the other side in line. We know this, we’ve seen it before, and we should trust Trump to stick to the same “peace through strength” playbook that worked so well his first time around.

After all, President Trump didn’t just flip overnight. His core promise of no new forever wars, strong borders, and an iron fist against America’s real enemies has held steady for decades. There’s no real sign that’s changed. But the fear that it could change is exactly what’s fueling this simmering MAGA civil war.

The battle lines are drawn, and if you’ve been online lately, you know the infighting is getting hot and heavy.

Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon have been very hard on President Trump. They want to avoid any type of conflict at all costs.

Meanwhile, Mark Levin is screaming every night, banging the war drums.

Watch:

Vice President JD Vance has also seen the angst and fighting online and had this to say:

Look, I’m seeing this from the inside, and am admittedly biased towards our president (and my friend), but there’s a lot of crazy stuff on social media, so I wanted to address some things directly on the Iran issue:

First, POTUS has been amazingly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Over the last few months, he encouraged his foreign policy team to reach a deal with the Iranians to accomplish this goal. The president has made clear that Iran cannot have uranium enrichment. And he said repeatedly that this would happen one of two ways–the easy way or the “other” way.

Second, I’ve seen a lot of confusion over the issue of “civilian nuclear power” and “uranium enrichment.” These are distinct issues. Iran could have civilian nuclear power without enrichment, but Iran rejected that. Meanwhile, they’ve enriched uranium far above the level necessary for any civilian purpose. They’ve been found in violation of their non-proliferation obligations by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is hardly a rightwing organization.

It’s one thing to want civilian nuclear energy. It’s another thing to demand sophisticated enrichment capacity. And it’s still another to cling to enrichment while simultaneously violating basic non-proliferation obligations and enriching right to the point of weapons-grade uranium.

I have yet to see a single good argument for why Iran needed to enrich uranium well above the threshold for civilian use. I’ve yet to see a single good argument for why Iran was justified in violating its non-proliferation obligations. I’ve yet to see a single good pushback against the IAEA’s findings.

Meanwhile, the president has shown remarkable restraint in keeping our military’s focus on protecting our troops and protecting our citizens.

He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment. That decision ultimately belongs to the president. And of course, people are right to be worried about foreign entanglement after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy.

But I believe the president has earned some trust on this issue. And having seen this up close and personal, I can assure you that he is only interested in using the American military to accomplish the American people’s goals. Whatever he does, that is his focus.

S

But blind trust shouldn’t be MAGA’s style. That’s why it’s important to speak up and share your views. Trump watches and listens. We must hold him and his administration accountable to the America First agenda, but crossing lines and heading into epic doomsday scenarios that ignore the man’s entire track record are probably not beneficial.

President Trump knows his base has zero appetite for another Middle East war. At some point, you’ve got to trust the man you voted for and believe he has the country’s best interest at heart.

And speaking of the Trumps, Don Jr. is weighing in too, making it crystal clear he’s still all-in on America First. He says these internal attacks are being stirred up by GOP neocons and the left, two groups that would love nothing more than to see a fractured MAGA.

Thankfully, our 47th president isn’t George Bush, and he sure isn’t Joe Biden. This is Donald J. Trump. If history tells us anything, it’s that when push comes to shove, he puts America first. We trust he’ll stick to that promise, but make no mistake, we’ll be watching very closely.
