A Ukrainian woman who was previously convicted of selling off 56 human kidneys along with other human organs in an organized criminal organ trafficking organization was arrested by Poland's border guard.

According to Reuters, a woman referred to as only Ksenia P, 35, was detained at a railroad crossing between Poland and Ukraine because of an Interpol red notice. A red notice is a request from global law enforcement to see to it that someone should be arrested pending an extradition notice to a country where they are wanted for crimes.

She had previously been convicted of selling "kidneys from 56 injured parties in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand." Her full name was not released because of Poland's privacy laws.

The woman had been sentenced to 12 years in prison in Kazakhstan for selling the organs and engaging in the crimes that took place between the years of 2017 and 2019. She was able to obtain the organs and then sell them on the black market. She made the criminal activity and organ selling "a permanent source of income."

The group she was a part of would get the kidney and other organs through illegal means. She has been wanted by Interpol since 2020 and the prosecution filed a motion to give her a one week's temporary arrest so she can then be extradited to Kazakhstan.
