NYT columnists favor Trump's war on DEI
In a survey of 10 Times regulars, on average they rated Trump's DEI policy as beneficial, and weren't too upset over his crusade against transmania either.
An interesting question is whether Trump’s more hilarious moves, such as ordering Justice Department prosecutors to drop corruption charges against New York City’s black Democrat buffoon of a mayor, Eric Adams, are actually helping his better initiatives, such as opposing DEI, transmania, and unenforced borders, by taking the heat off of them? Are anti-Trumpists currently trying to sound reasonable in their opposition by not vociferously denouncing everything he does, the way they did during the first term?
Here’s one data point. The New York Times opinion section, long the bastion of The Establishment worldview, surveyed five of its columnists and five of its contributors on Trump’s first month:
On average, Trump’s anti-DEI campaign was judged as having a positive impact.
Nor did the NYT pundits object all that much to Trump’s attempt to rollback many of the lunatic policies promoted by authorities during the trans frenzy of the last decade (although they dismissed it as the least consequential of the eleven issues, which seems unimaginative of them).
Or will Trump’s more ill-judged stratagems tarnish the good stuff as well? Second term Presidents traditionally have their party punished in mid-term House (and sometimes Senate) elections. Will this tendency apply to Trump’s non-continuous second term?
