The horrific suicide of an 11-year-old girl should have been a moment of reflection and brutal truth. Instead, the media saw yet another opportunity for political spin—and they took it. Instead of reporting the full, grisly story, they carefully shaped the narrative to fit their agenda, twisting the details to serve their politics instead of sharing the full scope of what really happened. What they won’t say outright speaks just as loudly as what they do. It’s all fake news.
This is the heartbreaking story of a young girl who came to the US. illegally and killed herself. She was reportedly bullied at school over her immigration status, but even more disturbing—she confided in friends that she was being sexually abused by a family member.

Yes, bullying has tragically driven young kids and teens to suicide, but sexual abuse is an even greater trauma—and in a case this serious, it should have been the lead. But of course, here’s the headline CNN chose instead:
To make matters even worse, it took CNN a staggering eight or so paragraphs to finally acknowledge the sexual abuse this poor little girl bravely confided she was experiencing. And when they did, it felt like an afterthought—buried deep, as if it were an inconvenient detail rather than the heart of the story.
Another concern emerged during student interviews, the district said.
“It was reported by multiple students that JRC told them that she had been inappropriately touched by a family member and wished to keep this a secret to avoid getting them in trouble,” the report states.
The district told Child Protective Services about these reports, and the agency is investigating, the district’s statement notes. CNN has reached out to CPS.
“Furthermore, it was disclosed that JRC had previously expressed thoughts of selfharm to a cousin, who informed JRC’s mother,” the statement added. The district said that this information was never shared with school officials, preventing them from providing resources or intervening.
The report also revealed that the young girl had confided in a close family member about wanting to self-harm—something her mother now conveniently denies, just as she denies the sexual abuse, despite her daughter’s own admission. The CNN piece goes on:
CNN has tried to reach Jocelynn’s mother, Marbella Carranza for comment. She responded to the district’s report in an interview with local Dallas television station KDFW.
“Nothing about that is true,” she said.
Carranza denied the district’s finding of an abuse allegation to KDFW.
You can almost feel the family setting up for a lawsuit—denying any wrongdoing at home and shifting all the blame onto bullying. And the media is more than happy to play along, pushing a slanted, dishonest narrative to help their case.

Even The New York Post jumped on the bandwagon, running with the bullying angle. At the very least, they mentioned the sexual abuse in the headline—but that doesn’t change the overall spin.
Just like CNN, The New York Post buried the sexual abuse deep in the story.
One user on X wasn’t having it and called them out:
Oh, so you mean she actually killed herself because she was being sexually exploited by a family member, who's likely also here illegally, but you just wanted to blame Americans. https://t.co/Y8IOAhdhbQ

At the heart of this story is an unthinkable tragedy—an 11-year-old girl, so desperate, so helpless, that she felt she had no way out. No child should ever feel that alone. Her immigration status doesn’t change the heartbreaking reality: she needed help, and she didn’t get it. That should be the focus. But instead, the media is twisting her story, burying the most horrific details, and using her suffering as a prop to push their anti-American agenda.
This is what the left does—exploiting real pain to serve their narrative, no matter who gets hurt in the process, and it’s disgusting.
