A high school player appeared to throw a ruthless cheap shot at an opponent during a playoff basketball game in Ohio over the weekend.
Reynoldsburg came from behind to beat Hilliard Bradley in a Division I boys district final matchup on Saturday. While the big story should have been the Raiders overcoming a double-digit deficit to keep their season alive, it was a seemingly dirty play that captured the attention of the internet.
At one point in the game, a Reynoldsburg player punched Hilliard Bradley’s Ben Mirgon directly in the groin. The act looked intentional.

A man who claims to be related to Mirgon said on social media that the player who delivered the blow was not ejected. The player also did not receive a technical foul, which has been confirmed via box scores.
The social media user who says he is related to Mirgon said the groin punch game after Mirgon hit back-to-back three-pointers and led to a “big momentum swing” in the game.
“That’s my cousins boy who got the nut shot. Big momentum swing. Things right after Ben hit back to back threes. … Somehow they just called an intentional foul. No technical not ejected,” Dan Mirgon wrote on X.
From the angle we saw, it looks like the player who threw the punch was fortunate not to be kicked out of the game.
The victory gave Reynoldsburg its first district title since 2018 and kept their season alive.

Just a few weeks after WrestleMania 41 and during one of the most profitable periods in company history, WWE has decided to part ways with some talent. Earlier today, there was a plethora of backstage dismissals featuring Ryan Pappolla, who had periods hosting WWE NOW and "The Bump." That was seemingly the end of the releases for now, but in typical corporate fashion, more information is starting to trickle in on a Friday evening, including some former marquee names getting cut. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, internal memos indicate Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Dakota Kai, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter have been let go. It's unclear whether or not this is the definitive list or if more releases will follow. Strowman was in his second run in the promotion, recently having a solid feud with Jacob Fatu. He never was able to get back in the main event picture, and he was in and out of various lower mid-card programs. He failed to have a true long-term story arc and was a victim of stop-start booking. Baszler has been under the WWE banner since 2017 and is the longest-combined reigning NXT Women's Champion. Her UFC background made her a believable grappler, but her endless reincarnations and shortcomings on the mic prevented prolonged main roster pushes. Kai is arguably the most shocking person on this list, as she's been on television fairly recently at the Women's Intercontinental Championship scene. Kai's had a slew of serious injuries, tearing her ACL multiple times and nearly missing a year of action with a knee injury. She was an excellent member of the Damage CTRL stable, but her unfortunate inability to stay healthy was likely an issue. Chance and Carter have been one of the staple teams in the women's tag team division but have never really gotten a chance to grow as characters. UPDATE 7:12 EST: NXT star Cora Jade looks to have also been released. The 24-year-old has had some high-profile feuds on the developmental brand but was unable to capture a title or reach that next level. Other NXT acts, Riley Osborne, Eddy Thorpe, and Gigi Dolin, have also been cut. Osborne was recently on EVOLVE and was known primarily as a member of Chase U. Thorpe, who had a long tenure in New Japan Pro Wrestling before making the jump over to the States. He has a unique look but has a tough time connecting with the audience. Dolin is a tag team specialist who had a notable run with Tatum Paxley that apparently ended abruptly. With the thriving indie scene and viable alternatives, hopefully, all the wrestlers can bounce back on their feet. We will update this piece with more info as it trickles in.
Brayden Schenn's suspension fate is confirmed after a controversial hit on Mark Scheifele in Game 5 between the St. Louis Blues and the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets won 5-3 against the Blues in Winnipeg. Scott Arniel's team found momentum after seeing top forward Mark Scheifele leave the game due to a massive hit. Scheifele has been targeted by the Blues since the playoffs started, but in the first period, he had to retreat to the locker room after a hit from Brayden Schenn. He later returned to the ice but was sent to the infirmary for good by Radek Faksa in the same period. Schenn received a two minor penalties on the play: one for roughing and the other for interference. Ultimately, the NHL Department of Player Safety opted to not punish with supplemental discipline. The Jets managed to get the win despite Scheifele's absence.
Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky fired a shot at media members during his interview on locker room clean out day at Bell Centre following their postseason loss to the Capitals. The year is over for the Montreal Canadiens, having been defeated in 5 games in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Washington Capitals. As the team gathered at Bell Centre for locker room clean-out day and to give their final interviews before breaking for the summer, forward Juraj Slafkovsky appeared to deliver a subtle jab at media members. When asked if he feels annoyed at having to answer questions from reporters, he responded (with a smile) that he doesn't mind normal questions. If you ask normal questions then it's fine. But it's a part of it, I'm used to it and I don't find it annoying. Slafkovsky then referenced a question he had been asked earlier in the year about whether he'd buy a ticket to watch a game in the middle of a Canadiens' losing streak that he found off-putting. I remember someone asking me if I'd still buy a ticket to a Montreal game after we lost like 2 or 3 games in a row, I think that's a weird question to ask a 20-year old guy when we're still in the rebuild, or whatever you want to call it. Slafkovsky had a career-best 51 points (18G, 33A) this year, helping the Canadiens secure their 1st berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since their miracle run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021. During the playoffs, he scored twice in the 5 games he and his teammates played against Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals.
The Cleveland Cavaliers' upcoming series against the Indiana Pacers will be anything but easy. The Wine and Gold may have dismantled the Miami Heat in four quick games, but Indiana's elite outside shooting, lengthy lineups, and solid defense could cause some issues for the Cavaliers. Still, Cleveland should be considered the favorite to win this best-of-seven matchup, and that's exactly what one NBA expert is forecasting to happen. Steve Aschburner of NBA.com recently published his preview and prediction for the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and believes the Cavaliers will ultimily win this series in six games. "How do you like your momentum? Dominating? Then Cleveland has the edge heading into this series after posting the most lopsided points differential (122) in playoff history," wrote Aschburner. "That's great training for what figures to be a much more competitive matchup. Still, those 14 extra victories by the Cavs in the regular season and the homecourt advantage it earned them should get it done for the Cavs." It's no surprise that the analyst has Cleveland winning, considering they're the No. 1 seed in the East and are coming off a historically dominant offensive series against the Heat. However, one factor that can change the outcome of this postseason matchup is the availability of Darius Garland, who continues to manage a toe injury. As Aschburner mentions, with each team at full strength and playing at their highest level, the Cavaliers should have an edge over the Pacers. But we'll have to wait until Game 1 on Sunday to see which team has the upper hand to start the series.
