It’s finally here: Inauguration Day. President Trump is returning to the White House where he belongs after a historic and extraordinary victory—this time, winning the popular vote and delivering one of the most humiliating political defeats in U.S. history to dud candidate Kamala Harris.

With Trump’s triumphant return, we’re ushering in an all-new, exciting America-focused administration, featuring newcomers like RFK Jr., Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, and Vivek Ramaswamy. This fresh team, some of whom were once staunch Democrats and Silicon Valley insiders, brings bold new ideas—but not without some very serious controversy.

Big clashes with MAGA’s America First movement have already made online waves, especially over the H-1B visa program. The heated debate, fueled by Elon and Vivek’s support for the “America Last” program, caused a lot of damage to their standing within MAGA.

Paul Ingrassia:

Over the Christmas holiday, a firestorm erupted on X surrounding the H-1B visa debate. The debate has centered on two factions within the MAGA movement – on the one side are so-called “Tech Bros,” represented by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-chairs of President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, or “DOGE.” This group has endorsed policies like continuing the H-1B visa program, which enables companies to hire foreign workers with “specialized knowledge.” Advocates of H-1B visas justify their position on the purported lack of high-skilled American laborers available today. Within the tech industry, where the program is especially popular, advocates maintain that there is a shortage of high-skilled computer programmers and engineers, and so H-1B visas are an indispensable part to the long term continued growth of their industry. Elon Musk personally got involved and added a geopolitical layer to the debate: arguing that without these workers, America would be at risk of falling behind foreign competitors in the race for artificial intelligence, thus opening itself to a parade of national security horribles over the long run if countries like China and India presumably get these workers instead.

Those on the other side of the debate, people like Laura Loomer, Jack Posobiec, Gavin Wax, Josiah Lippincott, and many others aligned with the MAGA movement, stress that H-1B visas preferentially select for foreign workers over native-born Americans. As a result, Indian and Chinese laborers are getting jobs that otherwise qualified legacy American workers should have. The economic consequences of this policy are twofold: Americans are denied opportunities to work in high-wage jobs, like Tech and Engineering – and even industries like law, which increasingly rely on foreign applicants. The companies who hire these workers can then artificially depress wages industry-wide, which affects both foreigner and American worker alike. In an era of still rampant inflation, the depressive effects of these policies spread across American society are monumental. Culturally, many of the foreigners who receive these jobs generate a sense of entitlement over their American peers. The crude truth of the matter is that this entitlement in some cases breeds contempt for native American citizens, a contempt – both overt and implicit – that permeates the words and actions of those who have benefitted from the H-1B program, either directly or indirectly.

While Elon eventually changed topics, Vivek went completely radio silent—fueling big-time speculation about his future with the MAGA movement and Trump’s administration as a whole. Specifically with DOGE.

This is how a mainstream media reporter from CBS framed the issue.

Jennifer Jacobs:

Vivek Ramaswamy, who Trump chose to co-lead DOGE with @ElonMusk, is expected to soon step away from the task force. There has been friction between rank and file DOGEstaff and @VivekGRamaswamy, and Ramaswamy has been subtly encouraged to exit. He intends to announce a campaign for Ohio governor as soon as the end of January, sources told @weijia @finnygo and me.

Now, this issue has been cleared up—no thanks to the propaganda media, whose s0-called “sources” continue to be dead wrong.

President Trump’s statement on Vivek might surprise many of his supporters. After the H-1B battle erupted online, where Vivek made several unacceptable statements, many had written him off as “politically dead” in the eyes of MAGA. But that’s not the case. While Vivek went silent, President Trump started talking—and from what he’s saying, he not only supports Vivek running for an Ohio Senate seat or Governor but also confirmed that, despite media fake news stories, Vivek is still fully onboard with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In other words, according to President Trump, Vivek is still part of the team. Full stop.

When the topic of H-1B came up, MAGA, understandably was ready for battle. After all, the H-1B issue is a sore spot for the America First movement.

We’ve covered this topic from every conceivable angle, including

Revolver:

Well, folks, just when you thought the immigration debate couldn’t get any spicier, another nightmare program takes center stage. Forget the drama around H-1B visas or student visa scams—turns out there’s an even bigger culprit lurking in the shadows. Meet OPT, the granddaddy of them all, and trust me, every American needs to know how this scam operates.

Here at Revolver, we’ve been tackling the immigration issue from every possible angle. Recently, we uncovered how the student visa program operates as a massive, rigged scam—one that not only funnels money into “woke” universities but also steals job opportunities from hardworking Americans. And now, with OPT entering the spotlight, the stakes have skyrocketed even further.

Revolver:

While the right has been laser-focused on the H-1B visa disaster—thanks to an online clash between MAGA, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy—another, maybe more insidious issue has been festering right under our noses: the widespread exploitation of student visas.

Each year, the US issues about half a million student visas, creating a tsunami of cash for progressive, Marxist universities that brainwash young people with twisted woke ideologies.

The truth is, many of these woke Marxist institutions would struggle to keep their doors open without this steady flow of mediocre foreign students.

In other words, the foreign student visa program is funding our nation’s demise.

[…]

The F-1 student visa program, intended for education, has morphed into a system that actively hurts American college grads. Some shady schools exploit the system by offering minimal or no real education, letting foreign students qualify for the government’s Optional Practical Training (OPT) program. OPT allows these students to work full-time jobs under the guise of being “students,” giving employers massive tax breaks—up to $12,000 per worker—for hiring them over equally or more qualified Americans. See how this works? It’s all tied together.

And this cycle creates an unfair advantage for foreign grads, costs Social Security and Medicare well over a billion dollars each year, and also serves as a backdoor pipeline to H-1B visas, leaving American grads at the bottom of the priority list.

Now it’s time to dig into one of the most sinister programs out there: OPT. Brace yourselves, because this is where things get seriously anti-American—and downright ugly.

We encourage you to read our in-depth piece on OPT, as it’s closely tied to the H-1B debate and is being wielded against the American worker in ways you wouldn’t believe:

You thought H-1B was bad? Turns out ‘OPT’ is what’s REALLY killing American jobs…

H-1B goes against everything America First stands for. But in truth, this issue runs deeper than that—it’s more than just one fiery debate.

Autism Capital:

STEVE BANNON: “When you have an engineering brain like Elon Musk and a guy like Vivek who can articulate, you have a unique opportunity to take government apart and put it back together like the founders wanted to get the blessings of liberty. If we don’t get it done now, it will never get done. This next year will be one of the most intense and meaningful years in all of American history. This is divine providence. Trump’s election is providential.”

The H-1B battle is serious and needs to be resolved, but Steve is right…we have a unique opportunity to capitalize on great minds, powerful people, and extraordinary circumstances to push our agenda further than we ever thought possible.

We think this X post really summed the issue up perfectly.

Dave Smith:

I agree, generally, with you. I think H1B visas have become a scam that rigs the system against Americans (like everything). I believe Vivek agrees with that too.

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see it as a “wild failure” by Vivek, although obviously a lot of people agree with you that it was. I think his criticism of American culture missed the mark a bit, but is an important conversation to have.

My main point here is that MAGA should pay attention to the establishment’s attempt to use this situation. You’ve got Elon and Vivek at DOGE talking about cutting $2 trillion from the budget, adding that the pentagon isn’t off limits. That’s how you make enemies in DC and there has been a relentless effort over the last two weeks to drive a wedge between Trump and Elon. This is just the beginning . They are going to try to remove every good person in Trump’s orbit until we’re just left with Rubios. We’ve seen this movie before.

The bottom line is, while we may not agree on every issue, we can’t cut off our noses to spite our faces. Incidents like this give us an opportunity to persuade those who are new to our side to rethink hot-button issues like H-1B visas. It’s about helping them understand how these policies fundamentally impact the entire America First movement—while still keeping the powerful MAGA train rolling full steam ahead.

No matter how you feel on the Vivek issue, it proves one thing yet again: the media will twist the story every chance they get. The best thing we can do is sit back and let President Trump address it—he always sets the record straight.
