Every once in a while, the good guys score a big victory against totalitarianism and tyranny—and this is one of those times. Thanks to relentless pushback and tireless work from the right against online censorship, the powers-that-be at YouTube have finally caved and are singing a totally different tune.

It all started when The New York Times teamed up with a radical left-wing hate group, Media Matters, to target and harass several high-profile right-wing influencers—just one week before the 2024 election.
Some might call this election interference: the so-called “paper of record” partnering with an extremist left-wing hit squad to silence popular dissenting voices right before a national election. We covered that story at length.
The New York Times—supposedly the nation’s most “respected” paper—has done the unthinkable. They’ve shown their hand, ripping off the very last shred of their veil to reveal who they really are: a propaganda arm of the Harris/Biden regime, working overtime with radical leftists to take down political enemies and rig the 2024 election in the only way they know how—through relentless propaganda and bullying.
So, what has the Old Gray Lady done this time? They’ve teamed up with one of the most radical, hate-driven groups out there, Media Matters, to target and harass a lineup of conservative influencers just one week before the election, in a coordinated effort to deplatform some of Trump’s strongest voices on YouTube.
The cheat is on, folks, in more ways than one.
The New York Times and the radicals at Media Matters are going after Tucker Carlson, Benny Johnson, Tim Pool, Ben Shapiro, and others.

After YouTube’s recent censorship of the Trump/Rogan podcast—where they shadow-banned the video and made it impossible to search—most folks on the right figured YouTube would gleefully take down and silence the conservative targets of The New York Times and Media Matters without batting an eye. This was another hot story we covered at length.
So, what does YouTube do with a wildly popular video that’s likely raking in millions in ad dollars? They hide it, of course.
Yes, YouTube is now burying its own top video to censor Trump’s powerful message and stop his movement from gaining traction. Try searching for the most popular video on the site, and you won’t find it.
Here’s someone who’s tried every which way but loose to pull up that link—still no luck.

However, to everyone’s shock and awe, YouTube decided not to cozy up with The New York Times and Media Matters to censor conservatives based on anti-First Amendment partisan attacks.

There’s a definite shift happening in America. The right is rising up—stronger, louder, and more determined than ever to take on the left-wing censorship tyrants. Much of that renewed power comes from Elon Musk’s X platform, which isn’t just pushing back against leftist tyranny; Elon himself has become a part of the Trump campaign, and when Trump wins, he’ll play a role in his administration too.
When The New York Times and Media Matters piece hit, X’s CEO Linda Yaccarino put out a strong statement that left no questions about where they stand on this matter.
We are not afraid of Media Matters.

And they shouldn't be afraid of an informed group of citizens who are dedicated to preserving freedom of speech.

On the topic of the Deep State’s massive censorship arm, we recently published a piece featuring none other than former government official and Time magazine editor Richard Stengel.
With its censorship capacity limited and reputational cancellation attempts no longer working the way they once did, the regime has largely resorted to a combination of lawfare (and potentially assassination) to go after Trump and his supporters in the 2024 cycle, a deeply troubling phenomenon about which we’ve written extensively.
With Elon’s takeover of X, the public exposure of the Twitter Files, and the looming extinction of key censorship think tanks such as the Stanford Internet Observatory, the Censorship Industrial complex has taken a number of severe blows in the past couple years. The little known but deeply important Global Engagement Center is another crown jewel of the censorship complex that is almost sure to be radically reformed or disbanded entirely in the event that Trump returns to the White House, and the deep state is in panic.

Although we might take issue with the nature of the propaganda being disseminated globally (stuff like promoting drag queens to advance “democracy” overseas), we can agree that in principle the Global Engagement Center’s stated and ostensible function is legitimate. A dominant trend that we’ve seen over the past several years, however, is government institutions using the cause of “fighting foreign disinformation” as a pretext to use the tools of the national security state to suppress and punish the political speech of American citizens. The Global Engagement Center happens to be one of the worst offenders in this regard.
Longtime Revolver readers might be familiar with the Global Engagement Center from a piece we did years ago that happened to feature Rick Stengel, a former Obama staffer who in fact founded the Center.
