Question: If your spouse tragically ended their life the night before, would you clock in at work the next morning, keeping it under wraps from everyone who cared about her until the last moment? That doesn’t sit right with most folks, but one South Carolina pastor did just that—waiting to reveal his wife’s suicide until the tail end of his sermon. Eyebrows were raised sky-high. But wait, the plot thickens: his wife had just filed for divorce.

Now, authorities are stepping in to investigate, spurred on by the family raising serious alarms and noting many red flags. This story screams “Dateline” mystery, doesn’t it?

Collin Rugg:

NEW: Investigation launched after a South Carolina pastor gave a bizarre speech at church saying his wife died of su*cide just hours before the church service.

Mica Miller died by a gunshot wound to the head at Lumber River State Park in NC.

Pastor John-Paul Miller gave an entire sermon on Sunday before mentioning he found out his wife died the night before. He called it a “self-induced” death.

Miller instructed the church to not talk about her death inside the church.

Lumber River State Park where Mica’s body was found is about 70 miles from the church.

Mica’s friends and family are questioning exactly what happened and are calling for “accountability.”

While Miller says his wife had struggled with su*cide, Mica’s family suggests that something more sinister could be going on.

“Mica was a God-fearing, joyful, loving woman who did not deserve the abuse she endured,” a cryptic post from her sister read on FB.

“This has to be at least looked into deeply. There’s got to be some accountability here,” a friend said.

Mica’s final social media post was a selfie that read: “When terrible terrible TERRIBLE things happen to you… (yall know what I’m talking about;) RPF: resting peace face.” (photo below)

According to court filings, Mica had filed for divorce from Miller weeks before she died.

People who are familiar with the couple are coming forward to share their story.

Things aren’t adding up.

The New York Post:

A South Carolina pastor claimed his wife of suicide Saturday — six months after she filed for divorce — as her family pleaded for police to “deeply” investigate the sudden death.

Mica Miller, 30, was found to have suffered a fatal gunshot to the head at Lumber River State Park in Lumberton, NC, according to local newspaper the Robesonian.

Miller’s husband, John-Paul Miller, is the pastor at Solid Rock Church in Myrtle Beach, SC, who broke the news of her death during a recent service after asking his congregation not to discuss it inside the church.

“I got a call late last night, my wife has passed away. It was self-induced and it was up in North Carolina,” Miller said before sharing the details for her planned memorial service.

“Y’all pray for me and my kids and everybody. You all knew she wasn’t well mentally and she needed medicine that was hard to get to her. I’m sure there will be more details to come, but keep her family in your prayers.”

Mica’s family claims that she filed for a “no-contact” order and divorce weeks ago, with the hearing set for June 5th. The family believes there’s something very fishy happening and has started a hashtag to bring awareness to the case: #JUSTICEFORMICA. Honestly, you don’t need to binge-watch true crime shows to see the word “suspicious” stamped all over this story. It’s like you can almost hear the “Dateline” narrator setting the gruesome scene. Of course, this is America, and everyone is presumed innocent until found guilty in this country, so we will all just have to wait and see where the investigation heads.

Here’s hoping the family finds peace and justice for their beloved Mica.
