Speaker Johnson might as well go by “Flip Flop,” given his recent track record. He’s been switching his positions on major issues, directly going against what his base stands for. First, it was the funding for Ukraine; now, he’s in the thick of the FISA 702 battle and taking the wrong side yet again. What gives? Johnson’s speakership is becoming a series of flip-flops that’s leaving everyone wondering if he’s been bribed, blackmailed, or both.

So, why is Speaker Johnson flipping his position on the FISA 702 authorization, which allows warrantless surveillance? This very tool was used to spy on President Trump. Representative Bob Good recently discussed this on Steve Bannon’s WarRoom, pointing out that there’s a strong push influencing Johnson’s change of heart—and it appears to be working.

Real America’s Voice:

Why is Speaker Johnson Pushing a Deep State FISA Bill? @RepBobGood

(R-VA-05) tells Steve Bannon that U.S. Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH-10) is lying to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson by telling him that an apocalypse is pending if FISA is not reauthorized. Turner, of course, chairs the House Intelligence Committee. “The conservative Constitutionalist position is to let it expire if we don’t have the appropriate reforms in place,” Good said. “Johnson was a seven-year member of the Judiciary Committee, where he voted for the very reforms that we are trying to put in place now.”

Speaker Johnson now believes that halting warrantless spying against innocent Americans would somehow spell disaster for the country. He recently shifted his stance, stating the change is from all the classified briefings he’s been getting.

Well, Speaker Johnson is probably telling the truth about all those briefings, and Edward Snowden thinks he’s figured out what’s really going on with Speaker Johnson. It’s a “textbook case” of “Congressional capture.”

Here’s what Snowden said:

Obviously, there’s a big change happening. Johnson entered the DC Swamp roaring like a MAGA lion and emerged whispering like an establishment RINO. The transformation is so obvious, it’s impossible to miss. Here’s Johnson alongside former Speaker and noted RINO turncoat Paul Ryan. Truly, a picture worth a million unthinkable words.

So, what exactly is “Congressional capture” that Snowden speaks of, and how does it work? Well, it’s simple in theory but can be quite complex in practice, shaping itself around each politician.

In short, “Congressional capture” is when lawmakers or legislative bodies fall under the heavy influence of outside interests, like big corporations, special interest groups, or US intel. These influences ensure that their agendas take precedence over the public’s needs. In simple terms, this means certain policies or laws that favor these groups are advanced, while criticism or resistance is quietly suppressed. Suddenly, their most ferocious critics become their biggest cheerleaders.

Revolver has been covering the FISA battle, being led by Steve Bannon on the outside, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and others on the inside. And the key point of contention from both camps has always been Speaker Johnson, and for good reason.

Revolver:

While the crucial battle over FISA 702 rages on, Speaker Johnson has many folks concerned, given his recent habit of pushing the Deep State’s agenda.

As Marjorie Taylor Greene has alluded to, Speaker Mike Johnson appears to be compromised in the same way Chief Justice Roberts is. Roberts began his career as a conservative stalwart, only to turn into a left-wing puppet. After Johnson’s disastrous push to fund Ukraine, Greene is now trying to push him out, making it clear that she doesn’t work for Mike Johnson; she works for the American people.

ABC News:

The House is back in session Tuesday after a two-week-long Easter recess, and Speaker Mike Johnson is returning with his speakership under threat after fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a motion to oust him just months after he ascended to the position.

The Georgia Republican filed a motion to vacate Johnson just before the chamber broke for recess. She made the move after a vote to fund the government to prevent a shutdown — which Johnson needed Democratic votes to pass.

Greene called her motion to vacate a “warning,” adding that “it’s time for our conference to choose a new speaker.”

In the last few weeks, Greene’s criticism of Johnson has only grown — accusing him of working closely with Democrats and shifting away from Republican ideals when it comes to providing aid to Ukraine.

On Monday, she called him a “Democratic Speaker” because of his propensity to lean on Democrats to pass legislation.

In the sleazy DC Swamp power game, “Congressional Capture” will sway or even silence lawmakers who might want to challenge the preferred narrative. The end result is a legislative process that quiets dissent and promotes specific, powerful agendas while leaving the American people in the dust. Think about this: Our government is so tangled and corrupt that it has mechanisms in place to stop anyone who’s genuinely fighting for “we the people.” How did we end up in this situation? Our Founding Fathers must be doing somersaults in their graves.
