The “Innocence Project” is reeling from a significant setback, one that might be tough to bounce back from. Remember Sheldon Johnson? He’s the “criminal reform activist” nabbed for a brutal murder and dismemberment case.

USA Today:

A man who became a public advocate for criminal justice reform after being released from prison last year was arrested on a murder charge Thursday after police said they found a person’s body parts inside a New York City home.

Sheldon Johnson, 48, was jailed without bond Friday morning on charges including second-degree murder, New York City Department of Corrections online records show.

The victim’s relationship with Johnson was not immediately known, but the New York Police Department identified the victim as 44-year-old Collin Small.

Johnson also faces charges of manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, the NYPD told USA TODAY.

Not long ago, Johnson was on Joe Rogan’s podcast, talking about how the justice system is unfair. And while it’s true our justice system has its fair share of problems, it increasingly looks like the real losers in today’s climate are those who clash with the current political regime. Our justice system has morphed into a politicized weapon aimed at silencing dissent. Meanwhile, in a rush to champion “criminal reform,” it appears that dangerous thugs are being let off far too lightly, especially among minority communities, putting public safety at risk.

The Innocence Project, which is currently trying to secure Scott Peterson’s release by claiming he didn’t murder his wife and unborn child, finds itself further entangled in controversy. One of their lawyers hailed Sheldon Johnson as a “miracle” and tried to say he was unjustly imprisoned for 25 years over a minor altercation that resulted in “two stitches.” However, reality tells a starkly different tale. Johnson, far from being an innocent victim of circumstance, had a long and seasoned history as a hardened drug dealer, with a record that included violent offenses like pistol-whipping someone during an armed robbery. This man was a career criminal, and if the allegations of murder against him stick, he’s still a career criminal. However, the plot thickens even more, as Johnson isn’t the only one in his family with a penchant for violence. His son, following in his father’s footsteps, brutally attacked a graduate student—punching him and chasing him into the street, leading to the student’s tragic death by a passing car. And Johnson’s father is apparently a disgusting sex criminal who raped his 7-year-old stepdaughter and then told the judge it was because his wife wasn’t giving him any action.

This story just keeps getting more disturbing by the day.

Here’s what conservative pundit Charlie Kirk had to say about this chilling update in a post on X:

You’ve already heard about Sheldon Johnson, the “criminal justice reform advocate” who appeared on Joe Rogan last month, and who was just arrested for murdering a man and dismembering his corpse. But incredibly, the full story is even worse.

On Rogan’s podcast, Innocence Project lawyer Josh Dubin called Sheldon “a miracle” and complained that he was sent to prison for 25 years over “two stitches.” In reality, Sheldon was an experienced drug dealer with a prior conviction, who pistol-whipped someone during an armed robbery — an attack that, contrary to the movies, can easily kill or seriously maim a person.

Johnson said that his son “got into a fight with this Chinese guy” who tragically died. In reality, his son viciously attacked a random Columbia grad student, punched him in the face, and chased him into the street where a car killed him. Despite committing murder, his son served less than two years in juvie. A police officer testified he showed no remorse for the killing.

Johnson’s father, meanwhile, raped a 7-year-old three times, blaming the fact his wife wouldn’t have sex with him due to his drug habit. A judge gave him just five years of probation.

This is the family that Innocence Project trotted out as proof that the justice system is overly punitive and systemically racist.

In fact, it proves the opposite.

Josh Dubin has had his fair share of wins. But let’s not forget that this is the same guy who has gone on Joe Rogan’s show and bashed Trump as a “dumbbell,” even after claiming he convinced him to pardon someone. When you piece together the whole picture, considering Dubin’s insufferable know-it-all, partisan attitude, you’ve got to pause and wonder: What’s going on in his mind? As it stands now, it’s high time for Dubin to come clean and tell the world how he was the actual “dummy” and misread this entire scenario. It’s also worth questioning a lot of the partisan motives behind this “criminal reform” movement and stopping treating the Innocence Project like the all-knowing defenders of justice. Clearly, they’re very capable of making some rather dangerous and grandiose mistakes.
