The New York Times' Paul Krugman wrote a column on Tuesday touting a new book from Paul Waldman and Tom Schaller titled "White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy" but judging by the responses on Twitter it doesn't seem to have gone as planned.

Krugman wrote in his column that "the truth is that while white rural rage is arguably the single greatest threat facing American democracy, I have no good ideas about how to fight it."

The book's synopsis says that "Schaller and Waldman provocatively critique both the structures that permit rural Whites' disproportionate influence over American governance and the prospects for creating a pluralist, inclusive democracy that delivers policy solutions that benefit rural communities."

How nice of Krugman, Waldman and Schaller to lecture us on "disproportionate influence."

The book so far doesn't seem to be going over well:

UPDATE: The reviews are in on Amazon!
