The situation in Ecuador has rapidly deteriorated from peaceful to chaotic, courtesy of criminal gangs attempting to seize control of the country. And while the situation in Ecuador is undeniably grim, it presents a valuable lesson for the US. Despite the severity of the crisis, Ecuador’s military response has been exemplary in restoring law and order—a concept that today’s Biden regime seems to have little interest in trying.

The Washington Post:

This country was once a relatively peaceful haven in South America, wedged between neighbors often racked by armed conflict and guerrilla violence.

On Wednesday, Ecuador’s president, Daniel Noboa, declared that his nation was entering a new era: “We are in a state of war.”

A day earlier, the 36-year-old president had taken an extraordinary measure never before used in Ecuador and rarely seen in Latin America, formally announcing a state of internal armed conflict and giving the military sweeping powers to combat 22 criminal gangs he defined as “terrorists.”

Noboa issued the executive order in response to a series of apparently coordinated attacks that swept across Ecuador on Tuesday, terrorizing citizens and paralyzing cities. A group of armed men took over a TV station during a live broadcast, holding its staff hostage at gunpoint. More than 30 car explosions took place across the country, riots broke out in several prisons, and at least seven police officers were kidnapped. In Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city and the epicenter of the violence, four people were killed by armed men who shot them indiscriminately while they were walking in the streets, according to the city’s police chief. Dozens of prison guards continue to be held hostage in four prisons across the country.

Tragically, our southern neighbors are on edge, with even the traditionally calm nations starting to unravel. This is troubling for us, particularly as we face an ongoing invasion at our southern border. While President Bukele has revolutionized El Salvador with his law and order agenda, other countries, like Ecuador, are spiraling into chaos.

Just consider this: what if we treated thugs as the criminals they are? Surely, our crime rates would plummet. The “Summer of Love” would have been a brief event lasting mere hours, not months, if our police had been encouraged to address the wrongdoers as they should have. Maybe if we stopped coddling and idolizing these troublemakers and instead chose to hold them accountable, our streets and communities would be much safer, don’t you think?

Here’s what author Michael Shellenberger had to say about the chaos unfolding in Latin America.

Most of us ignore the shocking violence in Latin America, but we shouldn’t. It affects us directly in the form of the border and migration crisis. And now, even formerly peaceful nations like Ecuador are on the brink of chaos. Earlier this week, mobsters took over a TV station, burned cars, and kidnapped police.

“For over two decades, I’ve been reporting on this new breed of gangster warlords,” writes @ioangrillo in this must-read exclusive for Public. “While I hoped the situation could get better, it has only been getting more dire. This current battle in Ecuador is an important chapter, and whether the nation regains control will have implications far beyond its borders.”

Here’s a closeup of the image that Michael shared:

In the meantime, those criminals who took the hostages have been nabbed and will be punished.

We’re aware that criminal gangs have rampaged, but as we mentioned, the military and police are rising to the challenge. They’re not preoccupied with politically correct concerns like determining everyone’s pronouns or being overly cuddly with the perpetrators.

Instead, they’re doing stuff like this:

If you are a terrorist in Ecuador, prepare to be thrown into the sea.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translation):

In Ecuador, terrorists who intended to commit crimes are thrown into the sea. The criminal says he doesn’t know how to swim, but then he does know how to steal and murder. What happened in Guayaquil will not be repeated. President Noboa, not one step back. Citizens can also defend themselves.

The Ecuadorian military has waged war on gangs.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translation):

Military in Ecuador to the terrorists who massacred citizens in Guayaquil: “You wanted war, take your war.” Excellent determination of President Daniel Noboa. Example for South America! Shoot them down and if they go to prison, let them wish those bandits had never been born.

The military routinely mocks and makes fun of the bad guys.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translated, deleted tweet):

This terrorist is responsible for murdering and burning people in Ecuador. (Guayaquil).

He is forced to sing and obey, otherwise he will receive a kick in the face. This is the only treatment criminals deserve.

Excellent president Daniel Noboa. Leave them without food.

Imagine how much different things would’ve been if this same mindset had been used against the George Floyd terrorists, who spent months intimidating innocent Americans, looting, assaulting, and burning down communities.

The sad part is, there’s no willpower in America to truly deliver the kind of justice that will stop a criminal in his tracks and make him question every life decision he’s ever made.

Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian military is treated like heroes because they’re saving good and decent people from mobs of bad guys.

In Ecuador they are clear about what patriotism is. The supermarkets in Guayaquil are giving free food to the military, they applaud them and respect them. President Daniel Noboa, criminals are beasts, they do not understand dialogue. Exterminate that narcoterrorist plague.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translated):

People want heroes.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translated):

Assembly in Ecuador applauds its military standing. Respect for the Armed Forces is fundamental. Thanks to the Armed Forces, what happened in Guayaquil cannot be repeated nor can it remain unpunished. Go ahead President Daniel Noboa!

When you have the backing of the people who simply want to live safe, prosperous lives, you can accomplish anything.

Juan Nicolás Vizcaya (translated):

President Daniel Noboa, it will be a difficult war, but necessary. You have the historic opportunity to demonstrate that with true political will we can put an end to criminals. Kill those bandits and leave them without food in the prisons. Ecuador Strength!

S

However, when you go against the will of the people, as the Biden regime is doing right now, and let criminals take control, chaos and upheaval inevitably ensue, as we’ve witnessed over the past few years. But ultimately, Ecuador and El Salvador are demonstrating to the United States that achieving law and order is straightforward, as long as there’s genuine commitment. The sad part is that we already know all this; however, our current regime is more interested in chaos and upheaval.
