Buying a car in the United States these days feels akin to buying a yacht overseas. The elites think that ordinary Americans, struggling to make ends meet in this cruddy Biden economy, can plop down $60K for some electric car even though they can’t put food on the table. Meanwhile, there’s a wide array of remarkable foreign cars and trucks that are off-limits for us here in the United States. These vehicles are often referred to as the “forbidden fruit,” and a significant number of them are located in Australia.
Simply put – Australian trucks (or utes) and SUVs rock! And so do people who drive them. On the flip side, these awesome trucks are forbidden fruit for us in the United States.
I recently visited beautiful Queensland, Australia (near the Sunshine Coast), and I was shocked to see the sheer number of modified off-road pickup trucks and SUVs. They were on every corner and every road. Did I arrive in off-road truck heaven? Actually, this may be hell for me because basically all the trucks I am about to show you are forbidden fruit – they are not available for sale in the United States.
I had less than one day to find out what’s what, and here goes…
I asked a simple question – what is the most popular vehicle and/or brand in Australia? I got one clear answer from everybody I spoke to. It’s Toyota and the Toyota Hilux (or HiLux).
This new Toyota Land Cruiser is truly a gut punch. It’s a gorgeous and reasonably priced vehicle, starting at just $41K brand new, but sadly, it’s not accessible in the U.S., thanks to Biden and the poisonous “green” agenda that is wreaking havoc on our nation.

What a beautiful, no-frills car!
The fundamental issue here lies in these convoluted and conflicting federal vehicle mandates: automobiles and trucks are expected to meet the dual requirements of safety and fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, in most cases, the safety enhancements, such as added weight, reduce efficiency. This forces manufacturers to come up with expensive and intricate solutions to meet both objectives while still adhering to the left’s poisonous “green” agenda. It’s a policy that’s literally choking the life out of working-class Americans.
