The big story making the rounds right now involves the conflict in Ukraine and how it has hit a dead end. The White House’s efforts failed, confirming what many of us already knew. A vast number of Americans saw through the façade and viewed the conflict as a colossal money-laundering scheme rather than a genuine war. Despite a relentless propaganda blitz by the US and global media, the reality that Zelensky was outgunned by Putin was obvious. And now, to really seal the deal, a high-ranking Ukrainian general has acknowledged a “stalemate,” effectively signaling a deadlocked scenario and a no-win situation.

Ukraine’s General Valery Zaluzhny surprised observers of the invasion this week with an unusually candid assessment that the warring parties had reached a deadlock along the sprawling front.

“Just like in the First World War, we have reached the level of technology that puts us into a stalemate,” he told the British magazine, The Economist.

“There will most likely be no deep and beautiful breakthrough.”

‘New approaches needed’

The comments poured cold water on the highly-touted counteroffensive that Ukraine launched this summer after stockpiling Western weapons and training new recruits.

But the push gained little ground and AFP journalists found last month that Ukraine was still battling Russian forces in one key village it had claimed to recapture weeks earlier.

In response to Zaluzhny’s comments, a senior Ukrainian official told AFP the country was facing a turning point, and would need to decide on a strategy on how to win the conflict with Russia.

Instead of calling for peace talks, Ukraine wants our fighter jets. The France 24 piece goes on.

Presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak meanwhile conceded in turn that this period of fighting had run into “difficulties”.

And Oleksiy Danilov, the head of Ukraine’s security council, acknowledged that, “new approaches are needed.”

Ukrainian forces have urged Western allies to provide F-16 fighters jets and long range missiles as infantry crash into deep Russian defensive lines they have struggled to penetrate.

“We have problems with too many issues. First, the quality of training for our soldiers. Second, we don’t have enough weapons or artillery,” a 33-year-old Ukrainian serviceman near Bakhmut told AFP.

“We’re starved for artillery and it’s getting worse,” said the soldier, who goes by “Dan”.

The situation has reached a point where even CNN, in an unexpected turn of events, has resorted to what they’ve long avoided—they’ve conceded to the grim realities and, surprisingly, reported the truth. Popular X account “KanekoaTheGreat” posted an eye-opening video recently, underscoring what many of us have known all along: Ukraine didn’t stand a chance, and the funds we’ve poured in were probably siphoned off for the elite’s gain.

John Kirby: “It’s not a stalemate. They’re not just frozen. The Ukrainians are moving.”

Jake Sullivan: “We do not assess that the conflict is a stalemate. We are seeing it continue to take territory on a methodical, systematic basis.”

Tony Blinken: “We’ve seen the progress on the counter-offensive. It’s very heartening.”

CNN’s report follows TIME Magazine’s cautionary cover story, revealing Zelensky’s closest advisors believe that the war is unwinnable, labeling Zelensky as “delusional” and painting corruption as rampant.
