Nobody will ever accuse the Stage 5 TDS hacks over at The Daily Beast of being top-notch reporters, that’s for sure. But we didn’t think they could sink as low as they did recently, while they tried reporting on the sentencing of Trump supporter Douglass Mackey, who was ordered to spend seven months in jail for sharing an anti-Hillary meme nearly eight long years ago.

If you’re not familiar with this vitally important First Amendment case, we suggest you read Revolver’s writeup on it. It’s literally the most important First Amendment case that most people have never heard of.

Mr. Mackey shared a humorous meme suggesting that Hillary’s supporters were so clueless they believed they could “vote from home.” While clearly a joke, the Biden administration’s DOJ decided to prosecute him anyway. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit election interference and faced a potential ten-year sentence. Shockingly, he was sentenced to seven months in federal prison. In any serious country not set on crushing political dissent like North Korea, Mr. Mackey would never have faced charges, let alone a conviction, for sharing a meme. Yet, here we are, thanks to a regime that is best described as Obama’s unofficial third term, led by a senile buffoon.

Unsurprisingly, the left—which loves heavy-handed censorship and suppressing dissent—celebrated Mr. Mackey’s sentence. However, the hacks at the Daily Beast seemed to get high on their own supply, lost their grasp on reality, and falsely reported that Mr. Mackey had been sentenced to an astonishing seven years in what they called a “groundbreaking” decision.

Here’s what the Daily Beast fake news article said:

After what seemed like a very embarrassingly long time, the publication finally updated the article to say “7 months.” Gee, they were only six years and five months off. You almost got it right, guys…

Editor’s Note: This cheat has been updated to correct that Mackey was sentenced to seven months in prison.

This is what happens when reporters are more focused on rooting for “their team” than uncovering the truth—we end up with the kind of fake news media we see all too often today. These “activist reporters” resemble giggling high school gossip girls more than earnest journalists diligently digging through layers to find the facts. It’s shameful, but this is the current state of US “journalism.”

Mr. Mackey is planning to appeal this grave miscarriage of justice, and he needs your support. If you’re interested in backing his fight for free speech, feel free to click on the links below. Contributions of any size are welcome and will help Doug fight this evil regime.
