California Governor Gavin Newsom is quickly reversing course on a major promise he made. Initially, he vowed to replace Senator Dianne Feinstein with a black woman — someone like Barbara Lee, who is already running in the 2024 primary alongside Katie Porter and Adam Schiff. With Feinstein’s health on the decline, it seems Newsom might get to appoint someone sooner than expected. Now, Newsom is backpedaling. Instead of standing by his commitment to appoint a black woman like Lee, he’s opting to install a “caretaker” for the seat. Many speculate this sudden change of heart is designed to give Adam Schiff a leg up in the upcoming election.

Amid questions about the health of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) outlined a plan to appoint a caretaker to fill her seat if she leaves office before her term ends — a notion that one of the candidates running to succeed Feinstein promptly blasted as “insulting to countless Black women.”

The assessment from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), the only prominent Black candidate in the 2024 Senate race, came hours after Newsom appeared Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he renewed a pledge to fill any Senate vacancy with a Black woman — but said it wouldn’t be Lee.

Newsom emphasized that it’s up to Feinstein, 90, to decide whether to vacate the Senate seat before the end of her term in early 2025. Newsom said he knows that Feinstein’s staff is “still extraordinarily active” and that the office can still fulfill its duties, but he appeared to agree with host Chuck Todd, who said the situation is “sad to watch.”

The Dems want their little wooden puppet boy Schiff in that senate seat and they’ll do whatever they can to make it happen. Which is exactly what independent journalist Glenn Greenwald pointed out in his post on X:

“I don’t want to make another appointment, and I don’t think the people of California want me to make another appointment,” Newsom said. “I’ve made plenty of appointments.”

Appointing Lee to Feinstein’s seat could give Lee a boost in the Senate race, in which polls have shown her trailing Reps. Adam B. Schiff and Katie Porter, two Democrats also representing California in the U.S. House. But Newsom made clear that’s not in the cards.

“I don’t want to get involved in the primary,” Newsom said. “It would be completely unfair to the Democrats [who] have worked their tail off. That primary is just a matter of months away. I don’t want to tip the balance of that.”

The endgame has always been for Schiff, who’s bent over backward to serve the left’s anti-Trump agenda, to secure that coveted seat as payback for all his lies and underhanded tactics. So, any pledges made to the black community will just have to take a backseat. Glenn Greenwald says this is yet another example of how the left artfully uses the black community to further their own objectives, rather than genuinely serving their needs.

I know in left-liberal culture, only rhetoric and hashtags matter to judge someone’s character, while somehow personal actions are the least relevant metric, but every time Dems act rather than speak, their genuine view of black people (we love them *if* they obey) is revealed.

This is independent of the fact that Dem leaders — especially Pelosi — could not be making their contempt for voters more obvious.

Dianne Feinstein’s daughter has power-of-attorney over her life, yet Dems insist she stay in the job.

All just a self-serving game to them.

As long as black politicians play nice and yield the floor to white liberals, all will be smooth sailing. However, if they get too assertive, they’re in for a world of trouble. It’s baffling why blacks keep endorsing this race-centric agenda, but they do — wholeheartedly. In the end, they get what they asked for.
