You might not even be aware, but a GOP debate took place recently. Yes, it was that forgettable.

NBC News:

When it comes to debates, the question of ratings is usually little more than a curiosity. But in the face of polling showing Donald Trump approaching 60% support among Republican primary voters — and an unusually high proportion of those voters saying their minds are already made up — it took on new significance last night.

With the former president again skipping the debate, how much interest would there be in hearing out a collection of non-Trump candidates?

The answer, per the Nielsen ratings service: about 9.3 million people. That’s a steep drop from the first debate, which was also held without Trump and attracted about 12.8 million viewers. It also represents — by a significant margin — the lowest TV audience for any Republican presidential debate since the start of the 2016 cycle, when Trump first became a candidate.

Contrary to what the mainstream media would have you believe, this isn’t a competitive race. In fact, Trump has already secured the nomination—his lead in both national polls and crucial state races is so commanding that he’s shifted his focus to the general election.

Meanwhile, DeSantis, Haley, Pence, and others are living on Fantasy Island with Tattoo and Mr. Roarke pretending they have a shot at the nomination.

10 fantastic facts about 'Fantasy Island'

However, this is the reality: Trump is now at 58 percent in Georgia–a place where the media told us he’d fail, because of his attacks against RINO Governor Kemp.

Without Trump, the GOP debates are just plain dull. Love him or hate him, he’s the one everyone’s watching. So why waste time tuning in to see a stage full of politicians perform like seals for the donor class, all in a bid to keep their campaigns artificially alive and lengthen their stay on Fantasy Island?

Following the latest GOP flop debate, calls to unify behind Trump are getting louder. One of the most notable voices in that chorus is Governor Scott Walker. If you look back to 2016, Walker was, at one point, pegged as the likely winner. However, he quickly recognized that Trump had the momentum. As Walker himself put it, he saw the “Trump train had already left the station,” and he bowed out gracefully. He chose country over ego, and did the right thing. Now, he’s wondering if today’s candidates will do the same…

Here’s what Scott said in a post on X:

Eight years ago, I stood on the debate stage at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. A week later, I got out because it was clear that the Trump Train had left the station.

The rest of the 2024 GOP field may soon have to make that same decision. So far, none of them have made a convincing case to Trump supporters to change their vote. It’s make or break time.

Scott noted that President Trump was far more engaging during his Michigan appearance than the entire lineup of GOP candidates combined. That’s because Trump has moved beyond the primary. He’s already in “general election” mode, and his enthusiasm and passion are palpable.

You’ve gotta know when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em.

The big question now is this: will today’s wannabes make the right choice and bow out and consolidate resources to take on the Democrat election machine, or will they remain in the race, effectively working against Trump and We the People?
