There’s a whirlwind of talk, concern, and speculation surrounding the Maui fires that devastated the town of Lahaina.

Among the most prominent conspiracy theories is the idea that “climate change” is responsible for the fires. As we all know by now, the left blames virtually everything on climate change nowadays. Woke up late for work? Don’t worry, it’s climate change’s fault. This not-so-subtle tactic is a political maneuver aimed at drumming up support and credibility for their faltering climate change agenda. So, obviously, they’re pushing this conspiracy theory in Maui. However, this narrative is running into a brick wall, particularly because 2024 presidential candidate and environmental lawyer RFK Jr. is throwing cold water all over their claims. RFK shared a Breitbart article that elaborates on the probable cause of the Maui fires: mismanagement of the land.

Here’s what RFK Jr. said in a series of tweets on the subject:

Hawaii fires result from poor tending of the land. First, industrial ag plantations obliterated native ecosystems. When these farms were abandoned, combustible invasive grasses took over.

Climate change may be a factor too. But we must resist the seduction of a simplistic global explanation for every environmental problem. Top priority has to be on healing soil, forests, wetlands, rivers, and oceans, instead of treating them as resources to strip and waste dumps.

Stop ruining land + water. Stop poisoning the earth. Protect what remains + regenerate what was damaged. Healthy ecosystems stabilize weather and mitigate flood-drought cycle. They also draw down carbon.

Everyone can get behind land + water healing whatever their views on climate change.

As President I am going to unite climate activists and skeptics in an environmental renaissance the likes of which we have not seen since the 1960s.

The Breitbart article is an interesting read:

The devastating wildfires that have scorched Hawaii and destroyed much of the town of Lahaina on the island of Maui have been fueled by invasive alien grassland species that have grown on abandoned farms that used to cultivate pineapple and other crops.

The grasses, which grow faster after rainy winters, create fuel for fires and are the biggest factor in turning Hawaii from a place where wildfires are uncommon to one in which they are increasingly considered a familiar risk, much as in mainland California.

The uptick, fire experts say, is largely driven by a major shift in land use on the islands, specifically the abandonment of tens of thousands of acres of pineapple and sugar cane fields that have opened the door to highly combustible nonnative grasses.

Unlike California and other mainland states in the West, Hawaii has not seen a lot of wildfire historically and its ecosystems evolved without it. Since the 1990s, though, the number of fires has been increasing alongside growth of invasive grasses, such as guinea grass, and shrubs on what were once sprawling plantations. The University of Hawaii’s Ecosystem Extension Program cites a more than threefold increase in burned acreage in recent decades, compared with the last century’s average.

“You pull agriculture off the land (and) it fills in with burnable fuels, and no one is doing anything about that,” [wildfire expert Clay] Trauernicht said.
The Chronicle adds that higher temperatures and cycles of drought and rain, which some associate with climate change, have also contributed to the problem.

Sadly, the left doesn’t really care about the planet, just like they really don’t care about COVID, gun control, or women’s issues. They leverage these issues to consolidate more power and create more chaos. Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding the fires rages on. A new report from National Pulse shows that John Pelletier, the current Chief of the Maui Police Department amid the ongoing Hawaiian wildfires, acted as Incident Commander for the mysterious Las Vegas Police mass shooting.

John Pelletier, the current Chief of the Maui Police Department amid the ongoing Hawaiian wildfires, acted as Incident Commander for the mysterious Las Vegas Police mass shooting – the largest in American history – in 2017. He recently trained with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

Pelletier has become the face of the Hawaii-based police department since being elected chief in late 2021. Before that, Pelletier served 22 years in the Las Vegas Police Department, rising through the ranks to become captain of the department.

His contribution on the night of the mass shooting in 2017, which witnessed the deaths of some 58 people, has even been recognized in a book on “Effective Crisis Communication:”

“Captain Pelletier experienced a challenging crisis context to lead through following the October 1 shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was able to navigate the uncertainty of the crisis, coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders during the crisis, and take action…”

To date, there has never been a particularly compelling explanation for how or why 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort, killing 59 and injuring 527 people.
