This past weekend, TPUSA hosted their big annual conference, attracting a multitude of conservative voters and especially young people. However, this year brought even more fire and fury. The base has never been so ready for a battle…

As usual, TPUSA conducted their “straw poll” to gauge where the current field of primary candidates stand with the base. This year, the results were rather surprising. President Trump holds such a commanding lead in the poll that he has essentially left everyone else in the dust. However, the real surprise isn’t his lead, it’s who holds the second place slot. Contrary to what you might think, Governor Ron DeSantis did not secure this position. Instead, the second-place slot went to populist Vivek Ramaswamy.

This straw poll probably didn’t surprise the folks at the conference, after all, this was the reception that Vivek received from the TPUSA attendees.

Vivek has won over the hearts and minds of many conservatives with strong, bold messages like this one on the corrupt FBI and other deep state institutions. He doesn’t want them reformed, he wants them shut down.

Vivek has a remarkably compelling way of engaging with people, as you’ll see in this clip featuring a distressed woman arguing about abortion. He exudes a relatable “human element” that bears a strong resemblance to President Trump.

Vivek has also been leading the charge against the radical and dangerous transgender movement, using some much-needed common sense and real science to back up his arguments.

But it was Vivek’s interview with Tucker Carlson that truly put him on the map. His response to a question about January 6th shows that Vivek is not only fearless but also deeply connected with the emotions of the Trump base.

The Trump base adores Vivek. He has a great attitude, strong, based convictions, he “gets it,” and he’s a DC outsider — always a bonus.

This sudden surge for Vivek must be troubling DeSantis, who continues to lag in all the polls. Clearly, there are internal issues with the campaign; Ron hasn’t met the high expectations set for him. NBC News reported that DeSantis is letting go of a dozen or so staffers, with more to come, as he attempts to “reboot” his campaign. This GOP primary is definitely chock-full of unexpected twists and turns.
