Rocker Sir Mick Jagger and long-term girlfriend ­Melanie Hamrick ARE engaged, friends claim.

Melanie, 36, sparked speculation last month by wearing what she laughed off as a “promise ring” from the Rolling Stones singer, 79, on her engagement finger.

But pals say the former ballerina – who met Mick in 2014 and is mum to his eighth child Deveraux, six – admitted on a recent trip to New York they are engaged.

A source said: “Melanie was at the American Ballet Theatre and she was telling her friends she was engaged to Mick. She was very clear her ring is an ­engagement ring and she is now his fiancée. Her family also very much understand them to be engaged and are thrilled.”

Quizzed on her ring previously, Melanie said: “I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like horny ­teenagers where we’re giving each other... In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”

It is the third engagement for Mick, whose hits include Satisfaction. He was married to Bianca Perez Mora Macias from 1971 to 1978.

After their divorce, he proposed to supermodel Jerry Hall, who he was with from 1977 to 1999. They had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, in 1990 – which was later declared void.

The source added: “There are no plans for a wedding but it means a lot to Melanie to be engaged – that is what she has been saying. All her friends are happy for her.”

Mick has had kids with actress Marsha Hunt and model Luciana Morad Gimenez as well as with Melanie, Bianca and Jerry.
