Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dubbed a 'Hollywood flop' in a damning new assessment of their showbiz careers.

The Wall Street Journal was the first publication to sharpen its knives publishing a feature titled Harry and Meghan Produce a Hollywood Flop: Themselves.


Next came Rolling Stone, which put out a piece called Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are in Their Flop Era.

And it comes after high-profile Spotify exec Bill Simmons, calling the pair “f***ing grifters” after Meghan’s podcast was scrapped.

One source had claimed Meghan had her heart set on interviewing Taylor Swift on Archetypes, but the popstar politely turned down the offer, making excuses about her busy tour schedule.

Columnist Daniela Elser wrote for news.com.au: “If we were going to write an ABC of the royal family it would start a bit like this.

“A is Ascot, B is for Bollinger, a splendid drop, C is for Charles and the Carolean age, D is for Diana, the huntress who rattled the monarchy to its foundation, E is for the woman who made history and Paddington chuckle and F is for … flop.

“For the last couple of weeks, probably the biggest story in the royal world has been the precipitous turn for the worse in the professional fortunes of Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

She added: “After years of big announcements about deals filled with zeros that would supposedly see the couple churn out reams of content that would entertain and inform and heal the sick, reality has come calling.”


But despite the disappointment over the podcast, all is not lost for the couple as they continue their partnership with Netflix.

There had been rumours that their lucrative deal with the streaming service was at risk, but a spokesman for Netflix denied the speculation, saying: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value.

“Harry and Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date."

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, they added: "Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

“We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus.".
