There’s an update to a very interesting story that Revolver recently covered via the interesting Richard Hanania of the President of the Center for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology. It involves a group of New York City minority teachers who, back in the 90s, failed a standardized statewide test and had their licenses revoked. The story is making waves now because a majority of white teachers passed, which led to accusations that the test must have been “racist.” The minority teachers are now receiving bit time payouts for failing.

Revolver:

A 2022 news story that initially went unnoticed has resurfaced and is now gaining widespread attention. It is sadly reflective of the issues we’re currently facing in the U.S. Back in 1996, many teachers, predominantly minorities, failed a standardized licensing test covering common academic subjects like reading, writing, math, and history. Interestingly, white teachers had notably better performances. Come 2022, the city decided to compensate these teachers who didn’t pass, reasoning that the test was racially biased and had detrimental impacts on their lives.

This was Richard Hanania’s original tweet on the topic:

Here’s a closeup of the images Richard shared:

Well, Richard’s back with an update to this story. He pointed out in his update tweet that at least 225 minorities who failed the test will receive a $1 million reward  for not possessing the skills or smarts to do perform their jobs at the very minimal state-required level.

The New York Post:

Failing the New York State teachers’ exam really paid off — especially for a Queens man who learned this month he’s getting a $2 million windfall over it.

Roughly 5,200 black and Hispanic ex-Big Apple teachers and once-aspiring educators are expected to collect more than $1.8 billion in judgments after the city stopped fighting a nearly three-decade federal discrimination lawsuit that found a certification exam was biased.

It’s the largest legal payout in city history.

As of Friday, 225 people who failed the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test used for teacher licensing from 1994 to 2014 had already been notified they’re getting settlements of at least $1 million, according to an analysis of Manhattan federal court records.

Journalist Auron MacIntyre pointed out the obvious regarding this story: The civil rights movement is a “wealth transfer” program, among other things.

If there’s one lesson conservatives can glean from this and similar situations, it’s that the left always takes care of their own — and that’s how they garner such cult-like loyalty. Nobody is suggesting the right should become a “cult,” but it wouldn’t hurt for our leaders to take note of this tactic and find fruitful ways in which to use civil right law to our benefit.
