Bike use is an all-age activity in the Netherlands.
Women over the age of 65 use bikes more than men and incredibly use bikes for a higher percentage of journeys than 20 - 30 year old men! /2
Bike use looks relaxed…. protected infrastructure makes all the difference. /3
Riding two abreast is a social activity, you don’t need to be in a car to sit side by side and talk as you go. /4

Bike lane use both by adapted bikes and mobility scooters. /8

Ohhh and did I mention on street. parking everywhere.
Secure storage is important but on

All in all - a great reminder of what good looks like.
This is possible in the UK… we political will and need to start investing in active travel

As for Islington’s Lib Dems they are still arguing for local resident exemptions to carry on with short car journeys.
If we were in the Brazil the LibDems would announce their plan to save the Amazon while giving exemptions to all local logging companies.
Watching the street for 2 mins today was a great reminder why we need a mayor in London willing to accelerate the journey to a fairer, more just, streets.

When a the local bus tries to pull in.... guess what, the @MercedesBenz is blocking it’s path.
