David Mamet’s ‘Assassination’ Starts Shooting in September

May 31, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

A few weeks ago it had been announced that writer-director David Mamet was going to helm his first film since 2008’s “Redbelt.”

It was said to be a drama about how notorious Chicago mobster Sam Giancana arranged the assassination of President John F Kennedy as revenge for trying to bring down organized crime, this after the mob helped put JFK in the White House.

The cast assembled: Al Pacino, Viggo Mortensen, John Travolta, Courtney Love, and Shia La Beouf. The cinematographer is also none other than Robert Elswitt (“There Will Be Blood,” “Punch Drunk-Love,” “Magnolia,” “Michael Clayton,” “Nightcrawler”).

Now, I’m hearing that things are moving very fast and that Mamet will be shooting “Assassination” this coming September in Vancouver. So, there’s a chance it might actually be released in 2024.
