NYT interviews beneficiaries of affirmative action.

One black study entering Columbia Law School is "unapologetic" about getting in with low test scores, is committed to making a career practicing civil rights law.

His dad was the dean of a law school. https://t.co/kb3OKyp4Munytimes.com/2023/06/21/us/…

Top 100 universities confer 10K-15K degrees a year to affirmative action admits who wouldn't have gotten into their schools otherwise.

These are a small percentage of students, but make up the elites who push for more affirmative action, like Sotomayor and Obama.

Black female takes the SAT three times, "managing to eke out a decent combined score." She just entered a PhD program, which she finds "scary," where she'll study, you guessed it, racism.

Woke is an intellectual and spiritual cancer. It has negatively impacted politics and the functioning of institutions. But not enough thought has been given to how it's contributed to artistic stagnation and what Douthat calls decadence. I explain here. richardhanania.com/p/how-woke-cau…
The idea that we see less original storytelling has become a trope.

The problem is that art is supposed to reflect and speak to human nature. When human nature is prohibited, you have to rely on the past to have anything at all compelling. ImageImage
The biggest problem seems to be the resistance to "gendered" morality, behavior, and ideals. But that's what people want and expect. Reversing the sexes in a template ("female hero saves prince in distress") doesn't work. Neither does treating people as sexless individuals. Image

In Japan, average dwelling is 1,310 sq ft. In Alabama, it's 2,146, 63% larger.

Japan has 49 cars per 100 residents. Alabama has 110.

Japan is poor. And I'm not going to even count how much Alabamans eat.

The American system is superior. Sorry if my patriotism offends you.🇺🇸 ImageImageImage
"Japanese don't need to drive anywhere!"

Ok then, how about clothes dryers? Average size of TV?

Sorry America haters. ImageImageImage
Alabamans have leisure time to enjoy sports, well fed and rested. They make use of the division of labor, let the janitors clean the stadium after. Japan is at a much lower state of development, as reflected in its norms. ImageImage

Supreme Court: Alabama's congressional districts are too white.

People don't realize the Voting Rights Act mandates racial tribalism in elections.

Conservatives gave Democrats another congressional seat. Imagine the reverse happening. supremecourt.gov/opinions/22pdf… Image
Whites in Alabama vote to Republican. If they were split between Democrats and Republicans, they could draw their districts however they want. But since they're Republicans, they have to give blacks another seat. This is a Lebanon-type system. ImageImage
Alabama: we believe in something called "Gulf Coast" Americans. They're a group that deserves its own congressional district!

Supreme Court: Sorry, but that's trumped by the "Black Belt." Now that's a real community! ImageImage

You probably have noticed that a lot of successful Silicon Valley entrepreneurs have been supporting right-wing candidates and causes. Why is this happening? And how much will these individuals shape the future of our politics? I wrote about it here. richardhanania.com/p/understandin…
Left-wing academics have called this "TESCREAL." Andreessen has trolled these types by putting the acronym in his bio. This concept is sort of silly, but with Elon buying Twitter, him and Sacks supporting DeSantis, etc, something is definitely happening. ImageImage
Tech is the most common industry among my readers, which makes sense only if you think TESCREAL gets at something real. Since TESCREAL looks and sounds ugly, we can call this group the Tech Right, both because they're in tech and technology is fundamental to their worldview. ImageImage

"For most people, saying blacks commit a lot of crime and we should talk about it more is not a smart career move. For someone in my position, it’s apparently the path to success."

On when people refer to writers as "brave" to mean "agrees with me." richardhanania.com/p/your-favorit…
Like them or not, Trump's critics have been the bravest members of the Republican Party over the last few years. Every incentive has been to submit to this man. This is why DeSantis has a shot and Liz Cheney doesn't. Right-wing brains melted by partisanship can't comprehend that Image
Sorry, blocking anyone who doubts that Liz Cheney is brave. I don’t even like Liz Cheney, but if you doubt this your brain has been so rotted by conservative grievance culture you’re beyond hope. May make exceptions for people I know.

Pretty shocked by the language here. When they arrest a sitting governor, it’s important for our leaders to behave professionally so people maintain faith in the system. ImageImage
To be fair, what kind of male wouldn’t want to be groped by Governor Whitmer? Image
Woah, she had all the children herself?!? Image
