The new ABC/WAPO poll is a bloodbath for both Biden and DeSantis. The poll shows that President Trump is currently beating Joe Biden in the race for the White House in 2024. The poll says a whopping 49 percent of the people surveyed would definitely or probably vote for Trump or lean towards him, while only 42 percent of them support Biden. Considering the absolute mess that Biden has made of this country, one can’t help but wonder if those poll numbers are truly reflecting the extent of his unpopularity.

Breitbart:

In total, if Trump is the GOP nominee in 2024, the cross tabs for the poll show 36 percent say they would definitely vote for him against Biden, another nine percent say they would probably vote for Trump in that scenario, and another five percent are leaning toward voting for Trump.

In said scenario, Biden only has 32 percent who say they will definitely vote for him, just six percent who said they probably would, and another four percent who said they lean toward voting for Biden.

And while this news is devastating for Joe, it’s fantastic for Trump. Things actually get much rosier for him if you read further down the poll. The latest news is that President Trump is now beating Biden by a bigger margin than Ron DeSantis.

This is a big deal for Team Trump because it’s the first time that major news outlets like the Washington Post and ABC News are reporting him as the favorite for the 2024 White House race. Other polls by Rasmussen and Trump’s pollster Jim McLaughlin also show Trump leading. Now that this news is all over the media, it’s likely that both the White House and DeSantis, who’s losing ground and will reportedly announce his 2024 bid soon, are feeling the heat.

The New York Times thinks they’ve figured out why DeSantis has crashed in the polls:

The DeSantis election bump is over. In the aftermath of the midterms, Mr. DeSantis benefited from extensive media coverage of his landslide win in Florida and Mr. Trump’s role in the G.O.P.’s disappointing showing.

Trump went on offense. Beginning in mid-to-late January, Mr. Trump began testing various lines of attack, criticizing Mr. DeSantis’s loyalty and his consistency on Covid issues. In early February on his Truth Social site, Mr. Trump shared a photo and posts suggesting Mr. DeSantis was “grooming” female students when he was a high school teacher two decades ago. He has kept up the pressure ever since.

DeSantis is on the sideline. When Mr. Trump attacked him, there was not much of a defense by Mr. DeSantis or counterattacks on Mr. Trump, whether by Mr. DeSantis or his allies. Mr. DeSantis hasn’t even declared his candidacy yet.

The crash may get worse for DeSantis as ABC News recently published leaked audio from Ron DeSantis’ 2018 debate prep sessions.

Matt Gaetz, a staunch supporter of President Trump, spoke out harshly against the leak saying, “I ran the DeSantis Debate Prep in 2018. Though I prefer Trump for President (bigly), the release of these videos by the person operating the camera is disloyal hackery that I do not abide. Staffers who leak on the candidates they’ve done work for deserve the reputations they get.”

While it’s unclear how the poll numbers will change if DeSantis enters the race, one thing is for sure: President Trump is not backing down and will continue to fight even harder.
