Clearly, Fox News made a huge business mistake by parting ways with Tucker Carlson. Tucker was the most popular host on the network, and his departure will hurt their ratings. The proof is in the pudding—on Monday night, Fox News lost a lot of viewers. It’s clear that conservatives are unhappy about the network’s decision. And if this trend holds up, things are only going to get worse from here.

Fox News, which was already on shaky ground with many loyal viewers for past “establishment stunts,” has alienated a significant portion of its conservative base by firing Tucker, and they’re going to have a hard time winning them back.

Even radical left-wing nutjob Brian Krassenstien can see what the departure of Tucker is doing to Fox News.

Here’s what he said:

I’m not a fan of Newsmax for obvious reasons, but if you think that Tucker Carlson’s firing by Fox News isn’t helping smaller news networks, as well as Joe Biden, check out these stats:

– Tucker’s timeslot was 8-9 PM

– Newsmax’s “Eric Bolling The Balance” 8 PM show last week – 132,000 viewers

– Newsmax’s “Eric Bolling The Balance” 8 PM show this week – 531,000 viewers

That’s a 402% rise in just a week.

Fox News should be very worried, especially if Carlson moves to another network.

You know it’s bad when the looney radicals start making a little bit of sense.

CNN’s Head Boy Oliver Darcy was practically giddy over Fox’s new ratings woes, calling it a “cause for distress” at headquarters. He broke down the numbers in more detail:

When Brian Kilmeade filled in on Monday evening for Carlson, who spent years as the unquestionable ratings king at Fox News, the channel drew an average of 2.6 million viewers and 294,000 in the key advertiser-coveted 25-54 demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. That’s very good by normal cable standards. It’s even good by Fox News standards. But, in context of the numbers his predecessor regularly posted, it was a notable dip.

Compare Kilmeade’s Monday ratings to the previous start of the weeks in which Carlson helmed the hour. When Carlson hosted on April 17, he averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 445,000 in the key demo. On April 10, Carlson averaged 3.1 million total viewers and 438,000 in the key demo. And on April 3, Carlson averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 435,000 in the key demo.

Now, to be fair, no one expected Kilmeade to be able to match Carlson in the ratings — especially after only one night. Carlson’s ratings dominance was why he had that 8pm perch. Even longtime host Sean Hannity found himself placing second to Carlson. If it were easy to command an audience the size of Carlson’s, then there would be no reason for Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch to have paid the now-fired host a reported $20 million annual salary.

What is most significant, however, about Monday’s ratings data is its revealing of a dramatic audience swell at Newsmax, unlike anything the channel has seen in recent memory outside of its broadcasts of a Donald Trump rally. The smaller right-wing television network, with a prime time helmed by the election denier Greg Kelly and ex-Fox News host Eric Bolling, saw its numbers explode in the hours following Carlson’s ouster.

Last Monday, for instance, Newsmax averaged just 146,000 total viewers at 8pm. Last night, the audience was more than triple that, with an average of 531,000 total viewers.

Monday night at 8:00 pm was not a good ratings night for Fox, but Newsmax flourished. We saw the same scenario play out when Fox News made that insane “Arizona call” on election night in 2020.

DC Enquirer:

Tucker Carlson regularly had millions of viewers a night as Americans tuned in to witness his hard-hitting journalism and courage to buck the status quo and question mainstream narratives.

On Thursday evening, Tucker’s penultimate show, the Fox host pulled in 2,992,000 viewers thus blowing out the competition at CNN, Anderson Cooper got 543,000 viewers, and MSNBC, Chris Hayes pulled 1,372,000 viewers, per AdWeek.

In contrast, Monday evening saw a drastic downshift in total viewers for the 8 pm timeslot, per Adweek. The Monday show, titled ‘Fox News Tonight’, was hosted by Brian Kilmeade and only brought in 2,597,000 total viewers.

These numbers should’ve been a lot worse for Fox, but will likely fall much lower as more  people realize what Fox News has done.

When compared to the other networks, MSNBC had 1,514,000 total viewers and CNN had 728,000 viewers tune in to their 8 pm shows.

That would mean that the difference between Tucker’s penultimate show and the most recent show without Tucker had a net loss of 395,000 and it is likely that the numbers will be even worse for Tuesday’s show once the older audience realizes that Carlson isn’t on a hiatus but instead departed the company.

The folks who refuse to watch Fox News at 8:00 pm have switched to Newsmax for the most part.

According to recent ratings, Newsmax received a significant increase in viewership on Monday. Eric Bolling and Greg Kelly’s Trump interview contributed to a total of 531,000 and 540,000 viewers respectively. Even the 10 pm hour managed to garner 350,000 viewers. This is a big increase from the previous week where Newsmax only had an average of 132,000 viewers during primetime.

Huge.

But the question now is, will this trend last? It’s a fair question, since many believe that Fox News helped “steal” an elation from the American people, but continued to tune in anyway.

One savvy Twitter supporter thinks he knows the “secret sauce” recipe to bring down Fox News – just get all the people Fox has fired and put them on one network and it’s game over for Team Murdoch/Ryan.

Will Tucker be the straw that finally breaks conservatives backs and convinces the to dump Fox News for good?

Time will tell.
