James O’Keefe has irreparably fallen out with the Project Veritas board, and will be going his own way. The board released a statement alleging that O’Keefe’s spending was so frivolous that they had no choice but to address it formally.
Here are a few examples of what has been uncovered so far by PV Leadership (this is far from an exhaustive list, it is merely a small representative sample):
-$14,000 on a charter flight to meet someone to fix his boat under the guise of meeting with a donor
-$60,000 in losses by putting together dance events such as Project Veritas Experience
-Over $150,000 in Black Cars in the last 18 months
-Thousands of dollars spent on DJ and other equipment for personal use
-Hundreds of other acts of personal inurement
The Board wants to work things out with James, and has tried every route possible to remedy the issues at hand and begin to take the legally required corrective actions.
These items don’t impress us as adding up to “malfeasance” for an organization with $25m in donations and substantial security risks. That said, the board may not have truly intended to force O’Keefe out, as the operation will flounder without him.
Speaking from HQ on Presidents Day, O’Keefe addressed his team directly. The video soon leaked, so he posted it to Twitter himself for all of us:
Since it’s already out there, here are my heartfelt remarks to my staff this morning.
I need to make clear I have not resigned from the company, Project Veritas, I founded 13 years ago. I was stripped of my position as CEO and Chairman.

The board seems to think the operation still has legs without him. We’ll see how that goes.
LEAKED Project Veritas board email argues that Project Veritas will “thrive” without James O’Keefe.

The timing of this incident is striking, falling just weeks after PV’s blockbuster Pfizer scoop. Whatever is happening here is hard to discern, but the public clearly has James’ back. We wish him success in whatever course he chooses.
