The Biden Administration’s new “Disinformation Governance Board” has mostly attracted attention for the ridiculous Harry Potter/Mary Poppins superfan chosen to lead it. The janky lady in question is one Nina Jankowicz.
But amid all the justified outrage over the disinfo board’s existence, few people have drawn attention to its unusual issue portfolio.
In short, the Disinformation Governance Board’s chief purpose isn’t simply to suppress unwanted ideas in America, but specifically to assist in a crucial development: The transformation of DHS from the department that guards America’s borders into the department keeping them pried open at all costs.
Initial reporting about the “standing up” of the disinfo board suggested that it is being created with two subjects in mind. The first, no surprise, is Russia, the Fatherland of Lies and permanent bogeyman of the Beltway class. But the other, more particular focus of the board is the rather oddly termed “irregular migration”:
A newly formed Disinformation Governance Board announced Wednesday will immediately begin focusing on misinformation aimed at migrants, a problem that has helped to fuel sudden surges at the U.S. southern border in recent years. Human smugglers often spread misinformation around border policies to drum up business.
Last September, for example, confusion around President Joe Biden’s immigration policies combined with messages shared widely across the Haitian community on Meta’s Facebook and WhatsApp platforms led some of the 14,000 migrants to the border town of Del Rio, Texas, where they set up camp. Some were ultimately expelled and were flown out of the U.S.
The euphemism treadmill continues to run endlessly, so now illegal immigrants have become “irregular migrants” in the White House’s preferred parlance. They’re not even bothering with the phrase “undocumented immigration” anymore. Prior to about ten minutes ago, the term was essentially unheard of.
The Disinformation Governance Board is thus a bigger deal than even if it were “stood up” solely to reflect a 1984-esque desire to suppress badthink. The board is also the culmination of a 20-year transformation that has turned the Department of Homeland Security from an agency focused on foreign threats to one focused on the destruction of domestic political opposition.
Consider the sleight of hand from the AP above, regarding illegal migrants in Del Rio, Texas. The AP, and the Biden Administration, would have you believe that “confusion” about Biden’s immigration policies caused 14,000 Haitians to arrive at the border, based on “misinformation” from smugglers that they would be let into the country. But this was false, the AP says, because “some” of the 14,000 were ultimately expelled. Well, how many? Last October, DHS admitted that the real figure at Del Rio was roughly 30,000, and of those, at least 12,000 were allowed into the U.S. to “pursue their claims in U.S. immigration courts.” Of those who weren’t, many simply returned to Mexico to continue pursuing entry. No doubt some simply snuck across the border another way and are in the U.S. at this very moment.
Those who are here will, of course, never leave. The Biden Administration has revived “Temporary” Protected Status for Haitians, which means that tens of thousands of Haitians who arrived in the U.S. illegally before August 2021 are immune from deportation and even have work permits, due to supposedly “temporary” problems in Haiti that make returning unsafe. Technically, TPS doesn’t apply to the Del Rio arrivals, but it reveals the broader intent of DHS. The presumption at every step of the process should be that an illegal immigrant gets to stay in America, no matter what. By the way, unvetted migrants from Afghanistan are all getting this “temporary” amnesty too. How long will it last? Who knows! Honduras and Nicaraguan illegal immigrants have enjoyed “temporary” protection since 1999.
Under the Biden Administration, Americans have been blessed with a government agency that is simultaneously midwifing the great replacement, then lying about it, while separately erecting a disinformation board designed specifically to censor “disinformation” pertaining to immigration.
Even for illegal immigrants with final removal orders, the vast majority will never leave, as Rep. Matt Gaetz made obvious during a blistering exchange with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas last week.
While Americans remain fixated on shortages, inflation, exploding crime, and the distant war with Ukraine, we have become distracted from the raw reality on the American border — namely, that the border has functionally ceased to exist. On Sunday, Secretary Mayorkas admitted to Fox News’s Bret Baier that nearly a million illegal immigrants have been released into the U.S. interior since the Biden administration began.

When a million illegal immigrants have been allowed into the U.S. with the express approval of the Biden Administration, there is absolutely no propaganda from human smugglers that could ever qualify as “disinformation.” The human smugglers are right: Desperate migrants should make their way to the Rio Grande. Odds are pretty good they’ll be let in directly, and if not, they can always sneak in the old-fashioned way.
A Revolver wrote last year in a piece entitled “Joe Biden is Recreating ‘The Camp of The Saints’ at the US Border,” the Biden government is incapable of passing the basic test of what makes a government sovereign over its own lands:
Having a real border means staring at impoverished, helpless people at your front door and saying, “Sorry, no.” It means finding them at their places of work, yanking them out, and punishing their employers. It means deporting people back to their home countries, even if they cry or scream or make viral videos of sobbing children.
…
The American regime is incapable of passing this basic test. And now, the secret is out: Show up to America’s front door, and you’ll be rewarded. The country with the world’s most powerful (or at least most expensive) military will allow the largest incursion by foreign peoples in world history.
This tidal wave of humanity is dramatic, but also gradual and hard to see up-close in a country of 340 million. So, for the Biden Administration, the only threat that could stop it is that Americans will actually take notice and act against it. So, having abandoned any pretense of securing America’s borders, DHS is switching to a new agenda: Warning about violent “backlash” from its own citizens. Last fall, when thousands of unvetted Afghans poured into the U.S. following the collapse of the Kabul government, the DHS stepped in to warn about an imminent violent terrorist danger, not from the Afghans, but from Americans:
As tens of thousands of evacuated Afghans prepare to rebuild their lives in America, the Department of Homeland Security warned law enforcement of a potential uptick in “grievances” by domestic violent extremists that “could lead some to commit violence,” according to an intelligence bulletin obtained by CBS News.
The assessment issued Tuesday by DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis cautioned that white supremacist groups and racially motivated extremists might target “individuals or groups they perceive have been relocated, or have assisted with relocation, as well as possibly other refugee communities that are unrelated.”
The Biden DHS directly equated opposition to the essentially unlimited arrival of foreign migrants with “misinformation,” casing such opposition as support for the great replacement “conspiracy theory”:
White supremacist and anti-government groups espousing the “great replacement” theory sprung up online in August in response to the relocation of Afghans to the U.S., according to U.S. law enforcement officials. Extremist groups continue to push false claims that resettlement of Afghan evacuees will contribute to a loss of control and authority by White people.
There has not yet been a “significant online response” to these calls for violence, according to intelligence officials, but the agency is concerned about existing domestic extremist threats to Muslims and immigrants.
Far from being a “false claim,” the expectation that resettled migrants will change America’s demographics and thus its politics is central to the entire progressive worldview. Biden himself said so in 2015:
Quietly, over the past year, the Biden Administration has put the “great replacement theory” in its crosshairs as dangerous “disinformation” pertaining to migration, even as it enables illegal migration to an unprecedented degree. Now, in May 2022, DHS is eagerly creating a special board to police against disinformation about “irregular migration.” The real intent is obvious: This isn’t about telling Salvadorans and Haitians that America actually does have a secure border. It’s about targeting and crushing the American dissidents who try to point out that it doesn’t. Who is more likely to draw the ire of Nina “Moaning Myrtle” Jankowicz: Cartel members in Jalisco who murder people for sport, or Breitbart News and Revolver, who have told the truth about what is really happening to this country, and are far more offensive to her sensibilities?
This shouldn’t be a surprise. It reflects a fundamental transformation of the American security state that was happening even under the Trump Administration. Back in 2020, DHS was putting out documents declaring “white supremacy” the gravest threat to American well-being:
White supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States, according to a draft report from the Department of Homeland Security.
Two later draft versions of the same document — all of which were reviewed by POLITICO — describe the threat from white supremacists in slightly different language. But all three drafts describe the threat from white supremacists as the deadliest domestic terror threat facing the U.S., listed above the immediate danger from foreign terrorist groups.
Last summer, Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland repeated the same claim.
In a strange sense, they are right. DHS, the FBI, and the rest exist to support the ruling regime of the Globalist American Empire. And this regime is not threatened by violence or by open borders. Instead, it is only threatened by the truth.
