UPDATE BELOW: The black man, Deandre, has been committed to a mental health facility after being declared mentally incapable of standing trial to face charges of trespass and animal cruelty.

A white Army drill sergeant in South Carolina is enduring a nationwide hate campaign for daring to be a man and defend his family and his neighborhood from a shifty black male who was harassing women and children in the neighborhood. Jonathan Pentland, who is originally from Idaho, shoved the black man while trying to persuade him to leave the area and stop bothering people.

After the video went viral, Black Twitter and Maoist “Woke” Twitter immediately created a digital lynch mob to harass, threaten, and intimidate Pentland and his family.

Soon afterwards, the craven and cowardly Sheriff did the bidding of the lynch mob and ordered Pentland arrested for what normally would be considered manly behavior in a minor neighborhood dispute.

A US Army soldier stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery after the airing of a video that authorities say shows him push and threaten a young Black man on a neighborhood sidewalk.

Jonathan Pentland was arrested on Wednesday morning, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news conference. He has been released from jail on a personal recognizance bond, according to jail records.

“It is a very disturbing video. It is one that we are not going to tolerate or condone in Richland County,” Lott said at Wednesday’s news conference.

The video, which authorities say shows Pentland pushing, threatening and yelling at a young Black man, did not capture the events leading up to the confrontation or the full exchange between Pentland and the Black man. [Local News 8]

Sheriff Lott is a drawling doofus.

Not content with the craven Sheriff arresting Pentland, the digital lynch mob turned into an actual lynch mob outside of Pentland’s house.

In an ironic twist reminiscent of the Jim Crow South, the black lynch mob vandalized Pentland’s home and threw a brick through the family’s window, forcing the police to shut down the neighborhood.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department shut down access to a northeast neighborhood after peaceful protests turned “disruptive.”

Around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the home of Jonathan Pentland after receiving reports that it had been vandalized.

Officials found objects had been thrown at the home and through an upstairs window. A light fixture attached to the home was also broken.

The family was temporarily removed from the home by law enforcement and taken to another location.

Due to the criminal activity, RCSD closed access to the street and neighborhood Wednesday night except to residents. [WBTV]

The original video may appear somewhat unflattering to Pentland, who repeatedly threatens and gets in the face of a black man named Deandre, who is provoking him to anger. Deandre appears to be disabled or mildly retarded, and initial news reports indicate he has some sort of disability.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the victim has an underlying medical condition and the RCSD is working to get him help he needs in order to divert him from the criminal justice system. According to the sheriff’s department, deputies had received two previous reports of incidents involving the victim and people in Pentland’s neighborhood, but he was not charged, and the department said the other incidents didn’t justify Pentland’s actions. The video supplies context for how the argument began. At the start of the video, a woman off-screen (apparently Pentland’s wife) says he’s been at the spot “like fifteen minutes now.” Indeed, news reports indicate Deandre was loitering in the area and harassing residents. At the end of the full video, posted to Facebook, the off-screen woman says to Deandre “You picked a fight with some random young lady that’s one of our neighbors.”

Obviously, Pentland did not choose to bully a man for “walking while black.” Whether justifiably or due to a misunderstanding, Pentland believed that Deandre was harassing people in his neighborhood.

And of course, a deeper dive into Deandre’s history indicates this was not the first time he chose to brazenly harass and molest his neighbors.

According to one incident report, an African-American man approached a woman walking in the area on April 8, put his hand around her waist and then put her hand down the side of her shorts. The woman then pushed away and when she did, her shorts partially came down. As she pulled her shorts back up, the man put his arm around her waist for a second time, according to the incident report. The woman then ran back into her home.

A second incident report showed on April 10 a woman was walking when an African-American man approached her and picked up a baby who was with her. The woman said he tried to walk away with the baby but she grabbed the child back. She said this happened three times before she told the man it was not her baby and she “did not have the right to allow people to hold the child.” She then went home and said she wanted to prosecute, but no charges have been filed, according to the incident report. Of course, the craven coward Sheriff Lott has now indicated he will not file charges against Deandre, despite his history of menacing his neighbors. After all, in the new 21st century Jim Crow system, the black man Deandre is a first-class citizen, and the white man Pentland is a member of the slave class who is supposed to shut up and obey. Sheriff Lott will instead “divert” Deandre from the criminal justice to get him the “help” he needs. Pentland will not be afforded that privilege.

Indeed, Pentland’s decision to call the police over more troubling behavior has helped make him a national villain. At most, this kind of petty dispute requires only that the participants work out their differences privately and come to a peaceful resolution. But no. Smelling blood in the water, the Biden administration has decided to join forces with the lynch mob persecuting Pentland.

Army officials have called for patience as they launch an investigation into a white sergeant seen shoving a Black man in a viral video.

Jonathan Pentland, 42, a U.S. Army sergeant first class stationed at Fort Jackson, was charged with third-degree assault and battery on Wednesday, according to Richland County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina.

Fort Jackson’s commander, Brigadier General. Milford Beagle Jr., said Army officials had “begun our own investigation and are working with the local authorities.”

A US soldier charged with assaulting a black man outside his South Carolina home for being “in the wrong neighborhood” has been suspended by Army authorities at Fort Jackson.

Obviously, what Pentland did wasn’t racist and wasn’t unreasonable. When mentally troubled individuals roam unchecked, eventually someone is hurt. Consider this case just a few weeks ago in Los Angeles:

During a somber memorial in a Beverly Hills park Friday night, Albert Donnay beamed through tears as friends, fellow musicians and co-workers remembered his 31-year-old son, Gabriel “Gabe” Donnay.

The memorial was several nights after Gabriel Donnay’s killing in his own backyard in nearby Beverly Grove, where he was stabbed by an intruder who police said was living out of his car and who neighbors had reported was hopping fences before the attack.

Craig Brill, 54, who has lived in the neighborhood since 1996 and had interacted with the suspect before the attack, spoke up about the neighborhood’s fears and frustrations.

Brill said homeless encampments had grown out of control in the area during the pandemic, with people suffering from mental illness living in squalor and regularly burglarizing nearby properties. This new status quo, he said, was inhumane to the homeless people and unfair to the neighbors — and now, in the eyes of many neighbors, had led to a young man’s killing.

“It’s a tragedy that we lost Gabriel, and it’s also a tragedy that a man with mental illness was allowed to roam our streets as a danger to himself and to the community,” Brill said. [LA Times]

Maybe Deandre really was “just walking” through the neighborhood. But only those who have deliberately mindkilled themselves can pretend that there is a difference between ordinary walking and harassing behavior that can make locals feel worried, concerned, or threatened.

Pentland saying that Deandre is “in the wrong neighborhood” has also been seized on by Black Twitter and the Maoist Left. Most observers likely believe that Pentland lives in a heavily-white neighborhood and is trying to exclude Deandre because he is black. But in fact this isn’t the case. The confrontation took place in a mixed-race neighborhood. The local elementary school is 78 percent black, and only 7 percent white.

Pentland is guilty of only allowing a mildly retarded black man to goad him into losing his temper, which is neither criminal nor racist.

Of course, the venom against Pentland is itself due to his race. Because he is a white male, the most hated demographic in America, any error of his is magnified a hundredfold by a predatory press. Contrast the treatment of Pentland with the handling of the countless assaults on Asians by black males in San Francisco.

Unlike Pentland’s case, where Pentland clearly believed Deandre had done something wrong, this San Francisco attack is purely predatory. Disturbingly, the perpetrator posted the video on social media himself. So, what was the end result? San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin dropped all charges, in favor of a diversion program. The end.

In its article on the crusade to destroy Congressman Matt Gaetz, Revolver described the East German Stasi’s tactic of Zersetzung, or “disintegration.” Instead of simply arresting or executing dissidents, Zersetzung would more gradually destroy their lives through harassment, manipulation, rumormongering, and character assassination:

[Zersetzung is] a systematic degradation of reputation, image, and prestige on the basis of true, verifiable and discrediting information together with untrue, credible, irrefutable, and thus also discrediting information; a systematic engineering of social and professional failures to undermine the self-confidence of individuals; … engendering of doubts regarding future prospects; engendering of mistrust and mutual suspicion within groups …; interrupting respectively impeding the mutual relations within a group in space or time …, for example by … assigning geographically distant workplaces. Besides Zersetzung, though, the Stasi had another tool for keeping the population in submission: They enlisted the masses to inform on their neighbors. At its peak, the Stasi employed more than 200,000 “informal collaborators” in a country of just 17 million people. These collaborators reported even the mildest offenses to the government. Citizens lived in a climate of terror and suspicion, knowing their neighbors and even family members might be ready to report them. The slightest incorrect comment could mean a report to the secret police and personal destruction.

The Stasi was once a byword for an oppressive thought police. But modern America has become just as dystopian if not more so. Now, every American carries a camera in their pockets, and people are eager to use them. Pentland wasn’t arrested because he was caught committing a crime at the scene. He was arrested days later, because an onlooker filmed an argument, sent it to the entire world, and drummed up an outrage mob. For millions of Americans, particularly young people on the left, this passes for virtue, rather than what it is: A form of sociopathy that delights in the destruction of other people.

In any sane society, this story from South Carolina would be a total nothingburger. Nobody was hurt. It was a petty dispute between neighbors, based on either a misunderstanding or a minor slight. Everybody has experienced incidents like this. But now, when its politically useful, a story like this can be used to destroy someone.

What we are witnessing is the extirpation of humane American society, where every sidewalk in every neighborhood can at a moment’s notice be sucked up and absorbed into a billion-dollar propaganda machine. It’s a collaborative effort between the press, social media, politicians, and a vast army of willing accomplices in the public. It’s a system perfectly designed, as though in a laboratory, to progressively break down its population’s collective mental stability.

Jonathan Pentland lost his cool and could have handled a minor situation better. There is no presumption of innocence, no desire for context, and certainly no mercy. He is a target because America’s ruling class institutions hate him and everyone like him.

No doubt, Pentland saw himself as a patriotic, all-American individual. He joined the military to serve and defend a system that hates him and will destroy him at the slightest opportunity for the pure propaganda value of doing so.
